Flamboyant Cuttlefish Hunting

Flamboyant cuttlefish are one two cephalopods that “walk” across the ocean floor instead of swimming.

They use two large arms and their fins. The flamboyant cuttlefish’s arms are long and broad and have 4 rows of suckers.

Flamboyant cuttlefish are predators and hunt similarly to their relative, the squid. They have a 'sticky tongue' (technically two translucent tentacles with powerful suckers) that shoots out and catch their prey.
Once the prey is secured, they will bring it into their mouth, containing a very powerful beak that will tear apart their food.

They normally eat crabs, shrimp, and other molluscs, but will also catch small fish.

Before they attack their prey, the flamboyant cuttlefish is normally camouflaged. Once the prey is captured you can see an instant change in the cuttlefish’s colors.
