I tried Lumina desktop in PCLOS, very underwhelming. Disappointed.

Thanks, I haven't gotten TrueOS to run so was interested to see this. Lumina is pretty but that menu would drive me to drink. :)

(Wish you didn't have the crawl going fulltime, it's distracting and obscures the taskbar.)

Hello presentarms! You forgot to use the icons at the bottom during the installation.
Lumina = Qt toolkit + Fluxbox + some X facilities
The RAM usage is high for two reasons.
You forgot to close all the programs you opened and which are waiting in the systray and ZFS eats a lot of RAM but gives you a lot of advantages:
You forgot to use the search field in the menu.
I told you that Lumina isn't the cup of tea of all users. I do like it because I like Qt and Fluxbox!
Once you get used to it you'll see its advantages!
