How to Calculate the Length to the Long Point on Jack Rafters for Common Hips and Valleys

While there are wrong ways to do framing math, there is no one right way. Make it your own and use whatever method makes the most sense to you.

This way of going about Jack rafters can seem a bit wonky at first (using the Diag button for the first Jack!?). But it is a clever way to get the long points for each Jack rafter while letting the calculator do most of the legwork.
