It makes unfortunate sense that, in Midori’s tragic life where all nice things are taken from her or twisted, the one source of happiness and kindness in her life comes from a pedophile who tries to control her life. The audience understands the tragedy here but can’t honestly fault Midori for jumping into the arms of the first person to show her some form of kindness after what she’s been through.
