Did you vote?

2024 saw over 60 elections worldwide, many of which were marked with controversy. It was undoubtedly a divisive year both within and along borders. The war in Ukraine is now in its third year. Syrian rebels toppled the Assad regime after years of fighting. South Korea erupted into chaos after the prime minister declared martial law and was subsequently impeached. In the United States, President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed VP Kamala Harris, who ultimately lost to Donald Trump.

Despite the tumultuous, seemingly never-ending wave of current events people still found escape and unity in the Olympics, Brat summer, and a rambunctious pygmy hippo.

2024 had much of the world voting for change. Onward, to 2025 where we will find out what it means.

The start and the end of 2024 feel like different decades.

December felt unequally overrepresented

Please do this in chronological order. Plus a lot of this is from like 2 weeks ago.

Diddy crisis? Bangladesh goverment? Spanish flash-floods? Venezuelan Tongo??? This felt more like "American celebrities and their dramas (which are the same every year)"

Disappointing. Too much on celebrities and less on news. 2024 was jampacked with news. Were you trying to play safe, Vox? Or just lazy to put together what has happened in a year??

One day we'll look back and wonder how the heck we allowed some of the stuff in this year to happen.

title should be "2024 in the US"

Recapping a year without any chronological order is jumbled chaos. Horrible, unwatchable editing.

Honestly, for such a packed and massive year, this has no reason to be the shortest out of all of your year recaps. Everything here felt extremely fast-paced with no air to breathe for each event that has happened. What happened to events such as Diddy's arrest, BRICS, Marcellus Williams, Menedez brothers, India's doctor case, Truong My Lan, hurricane Helene, Eurovision, Francis Scott Key Bridge, USA Approves Bill To Ban TikTok, The "second Moon", Epstein Island List, Raisi's death, EDL Riots, Mr. Beast controversy, US Port strike, Telegram, and the political feud in the Philippines for example. You mention Palestine briefly, but how about martyrs like Aaron Bushnell and Hind Rajib (or even a mention of Macklemore's hit track or Jonathan Glazer's speech which was the most known moment within this 2024 Oscars) Internet phenomenons like Hawk Tuah (brainrot culture in general) and Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson were also pretty relevant. And for such monumental events like the election season and Olympics, you think that it would be much longer with how much has come out of it? I always look forward to your recaps because they always feel like they comprehend most of what happened this year, but this was kinda weak compared to the rest of your catalog.

I'll never forget this year because it's the year my life was destroyed and had to be rebuilt because my mom died of cancer.

My mom wasn't world famous and her death didn't cause a big impact on a global, but her death impacted my world and that's more then enough to remember.

It hasn't been easy living without her, but I'm doing my best to make it work. It breaks my heart that she'll never get to meet my possible future children or see me get married.

Life Lesson: Learn to appreciate what you got because the standards you live with can easily be changed.

You have missed a critical event in this video, the fall of the Bangladesh government amid mass protests for democracy. This is a major moment for global democracy, and its implications go beyond just one country. It’s important to highlight events like this that matter to the entire world

can't believe there is so little screen time to show the israeli-palestinian conflict... this is out of touch for the people working at vox

Did you cut from 7 to 4 because you couldn’t show anything from Gaza?

I'll be honest, this is the first year Google made a better end of year video than Vox.

How people still think the outage is Microsoft and not CrowdStrike is beyond me.
