This video is a detailed walkthrough of the American Autowire headlight enhancement relay kit. Our kit includes separate relays for the high and low beams as well as upgraded GXL wire to make fresh connections to your lights. It's available in both standard (pn/ 500403) and weatherproof (p/n 500431) form.

Terminal “85” is typically used to wire to ground (not 86 as mentioned in the video) and terminal “86” would be used for your existing Low Beam (or High Beam) trigger wire. Terminal “30” should be used for Battery Power and should have an in-line fuse or circuit breaker. Terminal “87” should go to the Low Beam (or High Beam) light

Thanks for the information. I used this setup but without the dimmer switch. I used a DPDT toggle for my aftermarket fog/driving combo lights.

Don't forget to protect your headlight switch or BCM from relay's voltage spike. add Diode to protect your car

If I've already used the AAW Classic Update Series Kit for my Nova do I need this to power my new Led headlights? They seem to work fine now, just don't want issues on long overnight road trips.

Do we have to install Fuse 30 to Batt. and what is the amp. rate for Relay's and the Fuse if we have to use.. thanks

Use a 4 pin relay for the one getting power from the vehicle, then you won't have an unused terminal on the other.

Does the headlight switch protect the entire circuit? Looks like something would be needed between the battery and relay. Thanks

I have H4 wiring where the same set of wires supplies power for both low and high beams. Do I need dual relays or will 1 relay suffice?

ok so I just watch your video . where is the power coming from? still from the factory switch or a separate power source? if a separate power source what do you hook up to? I want to get a kit to do this to my 65 dodge dart and my 82 dodge d150 and my dad's old 78 chevy truck .

I am trying to wire a gmc 2017 Yukon Denali fog lights? I purchased a LED fog light kit. It explains the wiring ok. Although I would like to wire this kit bypassing the switch that comes with the kit and use the switch that is already inside the cabin of the Yukon. Are you able to explain how to tackle this approach?
Thank you, Patrick

What about 3 headlights. I have a honda shadow and i ran a similar set up for powering 3 light bars but i could only get 1 lit for low beam and the other 2 lit for high beam. I want my low beam light to keep running when i switch to high beam so that all 3 are on, but in low beam only 1 of my lights

So If I were to wire a relay for my headlights to have dims and lows on at the same time I would wire 85 to ground, 30 to positive battery, 86 to high beam positive, and 87 to low beam positive?

You forgot the one terminal in headlight connected to ground

Hi, I have a 2007 Honda Fit, it uses H4 bulbs, I have put some led driving lights to assist with the high beam, with the standard bulbs I can get the driving lights to work with the high beam, but as soon as I put LED H4 bulbs in the driving lights will not work, can someone help. I have tried to get it to work, but I am lost and need help.
Thanks Rod.

I’m building a drag race only 1989 mustang. All the factory wiring has been removed. I purchased new headlight, marker light and park light plugs. I’m looking to just run these to a basic switch to activate low beams just for racing at night. Not concerned with high beams. Also just tail lights, and not concerned with brake lights working. What do you recommend? Thanks
