I would love to pore over this album and imagine the lives of these people and how they turned out. There are some great videos, eBay auctions, and websites devoted to these stories.

I love to read history like this because we have a very old prison in Canon City, Colorado that was established in the late 1800's and I have toured the old prison!

I would love to peruse that book! How interesting. And, they were called the "Shanghai Tunnels" as there was an opening to the river, where waiting ships would kidnap hapless drunk men to work on the boats.

Contact a genealogical society to see if they have some one willing to transcribe the entries. Then current and future generations can locate their ancestors. Such a valuable resource that might help break through some 'brick walls'. 👍

This I really cool. Odd thing is they are all in a tie...or dressed pretty nice. Todays mug shots are just taken...beat up or not...lol

All the men are wearing suits and most wear ties and even hats !
Also very interesting looking characters . Check the beautiful handwriting too. That was before computers killed the teaching of it.

I find that the estimates in the usa version of the Antiques Roadshow are consistently much higher than the ones in the original UK version...I wonder if this isn't pushed a bit by the network in order to sensationalise and increase the ratings?....

They're surprisingly well dressed. Hats, coats, ties. No jeans and t-shirts.

It never occurs to these people to donate these items of history to the museums where they rightly belong and can conserve them.
