AI “art” in artist alleys is genuinely a problem atp, I went to a con recently where a booth was straight up advertising their AI slop comic in the small artist side of the alley. And another booth was warning us about them and how they had (allegedly) been harassing the actual artists in the alley. It’s crazy shit.

Oh my GOD I’m the fanartist of the Ohtani sticker HAHAHAHA I would’ve saved one for you 😂 I’m so honored. I’ll have more stickers of him at Anime Los Angeles and Anime Impulse LA 👀

So I went to AX Chibi last year and at the time I had to use a wheelchair.

The parking situation IS NOT wheelchair accessible. The shuttles they hired had no way of accommodating me. It was frustrating and dehumanizing. Eventually my boyfriend and friend figured out a way to get me in line. And when I went online to see who to write about this situation for a refund both AX and the venue said the other was responsible.

Yet another way for disabled people to slip through the cracks and not be given proper accommodation.

17:32 this is called wotagei and its a set of choreographed dances and chants that can be performed to most anime/jpop songs. You don’t need to necessarily know the songs ahead of time, the chants and dances are designed to work with any song you’d see at a maid or idol event.

Swell asking what we're drawing actually made me look up from my tablet ...

My answer is, funnily enough, a chibi!! 😂

Today's video theme; Anarkee has to be a mom to Swell's inner 12 year-old, results in light disaster. 🤣

Thank you for masking 💕. That really made me tear up because talking about it also normalizes the idea of still masking to your whole larger audience. I’m disabled and not immunocompromised but getting even a cold can knock me out for a month so I barely go outside except for essentials. You have no idea how many people you are helping by masking ❤.

bro honkai star rail is litterally a game about a train, they couldnt like get the texture for the train and scaled it up for pint?

Ai generated Astral Express is so disappointing 😭 they put so much work into their dinky Genshin Pasadena McDonald’s pop-up (where almost no one showed up haha) but they give us this for Star Rail at a con? There’s NO WAY they don’t have vectors of the train lying around cmon

Heyo! I was one of the uchishi doing wotagei in the back. It was rly spur of the moment, one of the maids saw my friend doing chikagei outside and invited him in, so he grabbed me too and we shuffled in and started doing some wotagei lol

btw wotagei is rly fun, yall should try it out!!

Oh yeah, the waza (techniques) we were doing were thundersnake and muramasa!

Anime ink (a tattoo convention in richmond Virginia) has a company there to take professional photos for everyone. Cosplayers and non cosplayers can get their photos taken and they upload everything to a website as the con goes on and you only pay for the photos you want printed.

Really love it that you mask when the situtation calls for it!!

Kept trying to do my chores and asking "where's my Swell video?!"

Finally, I can clean my room.

Thank you for masking between conventions, genuinely means a lot as an immunocompromised person who will occasionally go to a high risk event 💓
(Before people comment - I know most people don’t and I’m still taking a huge risk even when I’m masked, but I still appreciate anyone taking part in harm reduction)

Can confirm as a huge TMNT fan who started going to cons two years ago that yeah, there basically like no fan merch for any iteration at artist alley 😔💔. Unfortunately the fandom is majority online and not crazy big compared to others, so it's more common to see other popular modern cartoons get the rep. The best I've gotten is a Rise of the TMNT Mikey charm (where I literally told the vendor that I never see stuff in person lmao), and the voice actors of the 80s cartoon coming as guests to one so the merch was just their autographs 😂

I know this will get buried but on the off chance you see it—I think it would be really interesting if you covered the Fallout: New Vegas gathering in Goodsprings, NV next year. The main attractions are just like…the town, especially the saloon, so I think it presents unique challenges for planning since it’s a town of like 200 not built to accommodate thousands. I do have crowd anxiety and I had to bounce because it was crazy. I don’t think it was unsafe, it was just far too many people for the “venue” also parking was bad lol and the accessibility was what I’d charitably call questionable

I doubt that the people doing the wotagei with the lightsticks were plants - there has been a bit of a rise in wotagei enthusiasts in the states lately (which I am all here for!!!). It’s a really fun part of idol culture and always super impressive to see the people who have practiced a lot and know a lot of the moves 💜 I kinda fell into it myself after buying some kingsblades for a cosplay, and it’s made idol concerts one of my top favorite things about anime conventions nowadays - great vibes, good exercise, and a nice little niche of a community :)
