The story is based on the 'chathan' stories from 'Aitihyamaala' a Malayalam Book written by Kottarathil Sankunni, telling the folk believes of ancient Kerala, including Temples, Gandharvas, Yakshis, Vampires, Black Magics, etc., those things were very much popular before the era of mobile phones and internet, reading was one of the popular hobbies for the Keralites. The story has nothing similar to Lord of the Rings or Thumbad, it is a simple typical 'kuttichathan' story, but the dialogues by TD Ramakrishnan, a famous Malayalam Novelist, explores a lot of philosophies about life, power and politics, which we can connect with the current political scenario too. Just think Mammootty's character as our PM Modi, we can connect the starting of 'Pakida' (Ludo) game with the 'Jio trap', where Mammootty insists Arjun Asokan to play Ludo, and on his refusal, how he trapped him into it, and there are many more such instances in this film.
