Today we shall elucidate the conscripts of the Astra Militarum: the Tanith First-And-Only.

Hailing from the sundered Forest World of Tanith these expert marksmen, trackers and infiltrators are among the most legendary Regiments ever to grace the stars.

Dubbed 'Gaunt's Ghosts' in honour of their indomitable Colonel-Commissar: Ibram Gaunt, their battles waged within the Sabbat Worlds Crusade are regaled as legend among the citizens of the Imperium.

The Gaunt’s Ghosts story should be the first show Cavill should do. It’s a great primer to bring people in with relatively little cost. Don’t need massive cgi budgets because they’re just soliders doing “band of brothers” things. It’s kind of a slow introduction to the universe. After one you bring in the new people you can start introducing the more complex and crazy elements of warhammer 40k or the Horus heresy.

On another note, I wonder how the First and Only would get along with the Valhallan 597th. From what I’ve heard Gaunt and Cain are on the same page in terms of valuing and looking after their soldiers. Tactically, that’s where things would probably get dicey.

When the Warhammer 40K Cinematic Universe finally begins showing in theatres and streaming services, I hope they follow the Marvel formula and begin with Gaunt's Ghosts. The MCU began with Iron Man, I think, because they wanted to begin with something that was explainable and practical and could be easily grounded in reality. It wasn't until Thor was released in theatres that the Marvel formula began to veer off into the fantastical, and despite all that it managed to achieve great success in the entertainment world. I expect the same could be expected for the Warhammer 40K Cinematic Universe.

Oh Chapter 6 of Straight Silver now. Dan Abnett does a fantastic job with the audiobooks, I'd recommend them to anyone interested in Gaunt's Ghosts.
