Once again, well done. Continue to educate and inspire. A lot of men today don't know the basic fundamentals of style and being a well-dressed man. You have men in our society that don't know how to knot a tie or properly shine their dress shoes. Some may have never owned a pair of dress shoes. My parents dressed well. At an early age my mother taught me about colors, patterns, materials, etc. My father taught me how to knot a tie, and to always have a shine on my shoes. Growing up in New York City was an experience in itself as far as fashion, style, and the availability of breath-taking garments, great tailors, and wonderful woolens. There were a lot of well-dressed men in NYC who had great style and dressed exceptionally well. I was 12 years old when I had my first pair of pants made for me. Picked out and purchased my own pant material and everything. As a kid, I was also around a lot of men of that dressed really well. Eventually I developed my own personal style and developed my own niche; always keeping in mind that there are rules and basic fundamentals. Eventually It just became a part of me. Thanks for the memories NYC!

My go to universal coat is a military style great coat. It can be worn with almost any level of formality.

One option you have with that coat, similar to an Ulster, is to have a detachable cloak, which makes it very dressy for formal/ semi-formal dress.
