Problem! saitek cyborg F.L.Y 5 joystick

After only six months of use, saiteks cyborg F.L.Y 5 flight stick has developed several issues. The first being that the play in the middle was registered, which was fine. I set a dead-zone to remove the play being picked up as a movement. I then realized that I had to move the stick out of the center a fair amount to get it to move as the play leaned to the right as demonstrated in the video. This meant I could no longer fly accurately. Although this is a problem its not the worst.

The twist rudder no longer works. it continuously spikes to the right even without touching it. This makes it very difficult to fly as the plane begins to yaw all over the place.

All of this is rather disappointing since I have only had the controller for around 6 months.

You´re not alone. My z axis is completely nuts here after 7 months. For a expensive stick this is ridiculous.

I had an fixed this problem. Simply open it and clean it. I used isopropyl alcohol though if you have it some plastic safe contact and head cleaner works great

Hey I have this issue too. Z-axis goes all the way way right. I guess I’ll have to fix.

I have a problem with this stick, when plug this, its says connected as normally but when i checked the flight stick in calibration software, it can't be used, can't move, but the usb says it connected

i have the same problem, but i also have the problem of when i disconnect the stick from my laptop, it messes up my mouse functions, cant click on anything, and when i restart the comp will freeze on the restart screen, the restart circle will rotate but it will do that until i get tired of waiting and manually shut it down by holding the power any suggestions?

Same issue that I have. Found out there's a broken wire in the z-axis connections. Open it up and take a look.

I had same problem, so I fixed it. When I opened bottom of the stick, I fixed more things than wire. After soldering z-axis wire, you should fixed it with Hot melt adhesive (HMA) on potentiometer contacts.
2nd - if you do it more than 2 times, you should replace it with longer wire.
3rd - sometimes, potentiometer has problem with center slider. If you push stick during flight (unconsciously), it could fall from the tray (the carrier). You should than clean glue from it, clean surface from silicon grease, fix it and put HMA around it.
I improved some SAITEK small bad solutions in mechanic, after complaints and replacement (3 times). It was almost same errors, so I decided to do it alone.

my partner has same issue which I just fixed it. it's 3 code connecting twist rubber.. white n red n black. our one black code line was out so I reconnect it. n working!!!

I have the same problem, z twist axis just wants to randomly turn right, and only reaches 85% max.... Its a fantastic experience when you have to take apart an expencive product and build it properly... You may aswell stick to cheap crap

After 3 months my Z rotation went nuts, I just opened it up to see the black wire was loose and not connected.

Hello guys i solved the problem as well by my own ! i opened the joystick and removed the hot glue from the Z axis ( it is a yeelow round kinda box you will see in the bottom of the joystick) as i removed it the Z axis seemed to be working normaly again .i noticed that it had grease on it so this might have been the problem!

This is not just a known problem but from what I've learned looking into this virtually every stick either has this problem from day 1 or develops it within weeks.
Saitek is owned by Mad Catz, avoid them like the plague, the build quality is absolutely shocking and the quality control non-existent.

I have the problem that on my PC which is running on Win 10 the stick once!!! got really connected but i have no, ZERO input and now it doesnt recognize it anymore, i have tried like everything, but fucking win 10 is retarded

hi everyone, i had the same problem> X and Y axis keeps tending move to one side even i leave the joystick still.
i managed to solved it without soldering:
1. take out the base cover.
2. you will see the X / Y sensor unit at upside and right side of the center yellow chip.
3. see those big screws conecting/supporting those sensors ? adjust it clockwise or counter clockwise while conecting to PC, you will see how the deadzone red line changes its position and after fine adjustment hopefully stand still at center.
4. if doing above doenst change anything, then proceed to soldering mesure.
5. have a nice day ! :D
