This seems really useful actually, even fore larger boards, i could just shift the board around and I dont need to find room for a bigger hotplate that I wont use often

There is now MHP50, as the name might imply its 50x50 So you can fit bigger small boards on it. It also follows temperature curves.

I sometimes will use both. A hot plate or hot air to bring the board up to just under melting of the solder temperature. Then rework with a solder iron much easier and you don't stress or disturb adjacent parts. Very effective if removing something with a large heat footprint near low heat footprint devices.

I just hacked a clothing iron. It has a PID controller. The whole thing was like $20, including the iron from the thrift store. This is cute though.

Wouldn't the LED heat desolder the low-heat solder paste..?

This looks very helpful along with the solder paste. But why is it so expensive

could you use that low-temp paste with just a heat gun?

i have little $15 chips i can't use because my hands shake too much when trying to regular soldier. This could be the answer though.
