How To Cook Haitian White Rice

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to my channel and in today’s video, I will be showing you how to make white rice the Haitian way

INGREDIENTS
2 cups white rice
2 1/4 cups of water
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1 green onion or green scallion

In a large pot sauté scallions in olive oil.

Step 2
Add water with the salt to bring to a boil.

Step 3
Add the clean twice washed rice to the boiling water.

Step 4
When the liquid is nearly dry, cover the rice with the lid and reduce the heat to medium and cover the pot for 15-20 min then serve.

I have never sautéed l’oignon first then added the water 😳 I’ll try it with diri next time. I always added oil to the water though and let the rice cook itself after boiling it. Merci. I’m going to use that tip. Trying it tomorrow!
