It's only illegal when they advertise it as a laser pointer. No restrictions on modules or diodes or anything. They probably don't want people thinking a 1w laser can be used as a pointer

Word of warning, if you get a green laser with no IR filter your protection needs to be able to block IR light too

I just purchased the same kit on Ebay for $75, only difference is the laser casing is black and not silver. Hopefully the black one has the same power and specs. Great video.

Will the scattered reflected laser light harm your eyes? I'm not talking about a coherent beam reflection as from a mirror, but rather, for example, from looking at the beam landing on a piece of white paper. I'm not sure I have the same laser, frankly. It looks identical, but mine has a Class III sticker on it and claims to have a variety of powers all the way from 1W to 50W. I don't think those two things factually reconcile, but I'm not a laser expert. I think the first rating might be accurate (1000mw) but all the other ones that follow may have one zero too many. I cut it on and off to make sure the batteries were in correctly (they have the illustration backward) and didn't look directly at it. I then put on the goggles for everything else I tried, but now I have to ascertain if my DeWalt laser goggles (or these included goggles) will suffice or if I need to get a better set of goggles. If so, what goggles will make this safe to use if the included ones won't? TIA.

I bought the exact same laser off Amazon but the bottom part of my case does match the top as well as all compartments are correct size and the actual laser is brilliant burns through lots of different materials very strong laser
