In many sites I have seen link function under directives. When should we use only link function and when to use pre/post functions?

After compiling of template will any cloning is done or not, and also after compiling the template controller is working on which template whether it is cloned one or the normal one .

I have question to ask, I had read on angular site Compile function of directive returns a "link" function, so my question is what is difference between this return link function of compile i.e pre and post and one the which we define for directive link function(pre and post).

Hi Sir, Compilation stage will execute only once for a directive right?How come 3 times of compilation phase is executing in case of nested directives .Even though all the 3 directives are same(message).
