As they say it’s not a matter of when, it’s if. I was 23 in basic & all the teeny boppers called me old man back then, but we had some 35 year olds. Dude bro looks like a 19kilo. 🙂👍

I had a nice pick of jobs with my scores & college - I considered a signals role as a techie & also linguist job but as a military history & armor buff I wanted to do a hardcore combat arms job. If I had stayed in I would have tried to do two MOSes. They should make reclassing easier. Training is expensive but it’d allow you to gain more skills & possibly a better civilian career transition. So you could do combat arms & then do something that leads into a good civilian job. This would help with retention I think.

Many don’t realize that even infantry, artillery & armor jobs can lead to related civilian occupations. You can continue working for the government supporting combat arms or even for military equipment companies like General Dynamics
