I think that Dave Ramsey plays up the right-wing Christian angle because it gets Christians to sign up for his classes. It also encourages churches to advertise his classes for him.

The advice is sound, as it helped my wife and I get completely out of debt in less than 1 year.  There are certain people who will tune out what you are saying as soon as they say something you don't agree with, but there are also people who can tune out the bullshit and still hear financial advice.

I think Ramsey has some reasonable advice, but his zealotry is very off-putting. His points of view are also very judgemental and sometimes quite out of touch with the social conditions people find themselves in.

David is really ignorant of the Ramsey, he’s just passing him off as this guy who is just extreme religious nut, when that is far from the truth, Dave Ramsey has help more people out of poverty than David Packman ever has and ever will, and he definitely leans more conservative but I would say he’s more of an independent he’s not a partisan, and he can’t come off as a jerk sometimes but he does mean well and he is an honest person he’s not afraid to tell you the truth, David you have no business calling him unremarkable, how many people have you helped out of poverty.

The only reason that Dave Ramsey (and his ilk) offer [even reasonable] financial advice to help you make money is so you can spend that money on him and/or his asinine religious causes.
