Lawmakers consider driving privileges for undocumented immigrants

A proposal to give driving privileges cards to undocumented immigrants in Indiana was passed out of committee.

But I guess if your a state representative like Jim Lucas that is against immigration legally or not and doesn’t want Hispanics or migrants to drive. But Jim Lucas crashed while intoxicated and had THC marijuana in his system. Left the accident scene and was given special driving privilege the whole 6 months while on probation to drive to and from work but he drove whenever he wanted. And state lawmakers think that is a good example ? But against anyone else driving ? Complaining and being concerned of none insured and none drivers licensed drivers is the same as saying they want that law to change to make the roads safer.

Does the lawmakers understand that there is also a lot of people that entered legally but because the passport is valid for 10 years but eventually the visa expired that those people are treated as entered illegally. People forget and also during covid it was impossible to make an appointment on time. And after reading the rules of expired visas a lot of people become afraid to try to go because of fear of being deported. It’s a shameful law. I strongly agree states would benefit more allowing people to get the Drivers privilege card. And have insurance. There is hate groups that call the police because they feel the roads are unsafe. If people got the Drivers privilege cards that would stop problems and concerns.

And also I think other then showing they paid taxes for at least one year. Because some don’t even get the ITIN number for several years or if they applied and paid to get the ITIN number to pay taxes at the end of the year. They don’t always receive the ITIN number for up to 6 months. I think if they can at least show one year of employment here or one year of paying taxes as suggested.
