Update: Apparently this is the 888th video uploaded to this channel and I didn't even realise it, so thanks to Kaisertube HD for spotting that out!

I... don't know where to start with this thing. The shock and surprise I got unawaringly stumbling upon this beautiful thing here whilst filming the main lifts were indescribable...

This is likely not only the last Otis touch sensitive in the whole of Singapore, but is also the Otis square touch that serves the least floors in the world(only 3 floors, beating Dieselducy's 4 floor square touch) and is probably the Otis square touch installed at the highest height above ground level. This little lift was indeed extremely lucky to have escaped the mod back in the 90s or 2000s when all its high speed Autotronic counterparts were modernised, and still runs like a charm up till today. Despite a few evident faults in the video, this thing holds up very well for its age. It appears that the 50th floor is a conference room for OCBC, and this is their exclusive lift to that conference area(waiting for the fireman's lift can be quite long) and hence they decided to furnish it to a certain level of poshness. The interior has that 70s posh vibe, and it looks like the sort of interior you'd normally get in smaller old hotels these days.

However, the unsettling part about this lift is that it is 'too smooth'. It is so smooth to the point one can never feel it moving at all. This got me confused as evident in the video as I thought I just got trapped in! Yes, people do look for a smooth ride in a lift, but there has to be some level of reassurance that the lift is moving(especially with the up arrow broken inside this lift). Other than that, this lift is by no means bad, and I dare say this will certainly outlast anything that replaces or modernises it. The Schindler technicians wasn't sure if this lift is going to be modernised, and although it is unlikely it won't, I really really hope it stays in its original condition as this is the VERY LAST TOUCH left in the country!

Floors served: 48-50 (Tallest touch suspended above ground?)
Capacity: 8persons545kg
Manufacturer: Otis Elevator Company
History: Original (!!!!!)
Drive: Overhead Geared Traction
Year installed: 1976
Speed: 0.5m/s? Hard to tell because of how smooth this lift is

Congratulations on your really very rare find!! I believe there should be at least one more touch sensitive otis in Singapore just that we don’t know about it yet! so I think in the description it should say the only known touch sensitive installation left in Singapore

I think the smoothness is what kept this lift going. I can imagine how common Autotronic were in the heydays.

Managed to go at 12pm yesterday, and man I couldn't stop riding this lift. Its so damn addictive especially those noisy relays which are so satisfying to hear. And by the way if you don't mind me saying, I'm assuming those idiots are Xi Ze and one of his friends.
