Are you ready to dive into pricing your sublimation products but not sure where to start? In this beginner's guide, we’ll walk you through the essentials of calculating your total cost of goods, labor, and profit margin. By the end of this guide, you’ll know how to price your sublimation garments and drinkware with confidence. We’ll use a sample order of 10 custom sublimation shirts and 10 sublimated can coolers to help you out.

Cost of Goods
For this project, we'll be sublimating 10 tumblers and 10 shirts.
- Tumblers: We’re purchasing 10 at $8.75 each, totaling $87.50.
- Shirts: We’re using Sport Tech shirts with 75% polyester, priced at $13.71 each, bringing the shirt total to $137.10.
- Paper: We’ll use Walla Sub Dye Sublimation paper. At 29 cents per sheet, for 10 sheets total, that’s $2.90.
- Ink: Using the Sawgrass printer, we estimate $1.26 per page for ink, totaling $12.60 for 10 pages.
- Shrink Wrap Sleeves: For the can coolers, 10 shrink wrap sleeves cost $3.20.
Total cost of goods: $243.30.

Labor Cost
Now, let's calculate the labor cost.
- Design Prep Time: 10 minutes to prep the designs.
- Printing Time: 10 minutes to print the transfers.
- Prep Time: 20 minutes for transfer prep and shrink wrap.
- Pressing Time: 20 minutes for pressing in the oven and using the heat press for shirts.
Total time is about 1 hour of work, and we’re calculating labor at $15 per hour.
Total labor cost: $15.

Total Cost to Produce
By adding the cost of goods ($243.30) and labor ($15), the total cost to produce this project is $258.30.

Profit Margin
Next, let's set the profit margin. For this example, we’ll go with a 50% margin, meaning half the price covers costs and the other half is profit.

The formula is simple: multiply the total cost to produce by 2.

Final price: $516.60, meaning a profit of $258.30.

Conclusion
That’s it! You now know how to price sublimation garments and drinkware. Whether you’re working with custom orders or bulk items, these steps will ensure you’re making a profit while covering all costs.

We have to add the shipping cost on getting the goods and delivering to the final customer. Whit gas prices hiking it is very important to keep in account

What is that cover on your heat press? I noticed your white didn’t get scorched! I’d love to know your trick!

So just a bit confused on the profit margin. So lets say the cost of everything for making T-shirts is $160, and when I multiply it by two that's what I charge for the whole service correct? If so does that mean I have to price the shirts where they have to meet up with that total cost? Also if I wanted to do 40% profit for myself would I have to times it by 1.70 or something like that? I only ask cause I'm pretty bad at math so I just want to make sure I'm getting all of this right 😅
