Super video, very well researched, my favourites are the Grainline, and the Cashmerette. Look forward to seeing your coat/jacket makes.

I love the Duchess coat! I'm not a huge fan of shorter jackets because I have a long torso and the circle skirt bottom is so cute.

I love, love, love the Duchess coat! Thanks for introducing us 😉. I also love the ladies at Closet Case! They spent this afternoon in their shop making versions of the Sienna ❤️

I'm looking forward to seeing how the Closet Case coat turns out for you and that will probably influence my decision to make it. I think the Cashmerette trench would be the one I would feel safest making but as I've already invested in the Robson trench, I will be making that. I'm right on the cusp of plus sizes and 'regular' sizes.

Hi Claire - Thayer, of course, in the blue waxed cotton, lining tbd, but I liked the Francis and the Sienna as well, can’t wait to see how your Sienna turns out- that will help me decide. It takes me so long to sew anything (can hardly wait to retire!) I doubt I will get more than one done for this winter. I’ve a couple of other contenders as well, I have some plum colored boiled wool I bought in a moment of madness that needs to become something. and some amazing wool I got in NYC last month, in a separate moment of madness.

Ill be interested to see what you think of the Sienna. I really love the look, but boxy doesnt usually suit me. I've plenty of time to follow your coatmaking adventures before I need one again (30c yesterday), but the idea of making a lighter weight jacket has my creative cells churning. As always, love your channel. Deb

Great video Claire!!! Wish I saw this before I did my series, I would have definitely mentioned it as a reference. I'll give you a shout out in my Sunday video though, you mentioned several I didn't know anything about. Thank you also for the shout out.

Claire, I have to share with you my Seamwork experiences. I was absolutely fine with Seamwork until four recent makes and I'm so put off that I just don't know if I can be bothered trying them again. In the last couple of months I've made the Audrey jeans jacket, the Leonora jeans skirt, the Tessa Jeans and the Clover trousers. I was very careful to choose the right size but the amount of ease is massive and all these garments are swimming on me to the point where there is no point doing alterations. The thing is, I made the Melody trousers and the Weston shorts earlier in the year and they fit really well (aside from the Melody trousers being a tiny bit snug on the calves). Something seems to have changed in their pattern making. I know I should make toiles but as my figure is close to the most standard sizes (44, 38, 46) I feel that I should be able to make things without too much issue. Also, I don't have a great deal of energy so every minute I expend is precious.

Love the review Claire. It really is hard deciding on which coat to sew! I have never sewn a coat and have just settled on the Papercut Patterns Sapporo coat. It goes up to XL but because of the cocoon shape it goes up to a 56 hip! It is lined so am looking forward to the challenge. I have found some lining but still looking for the coating. I love Closet Case patterns! They are really well drafted. ❤️
