Also it's a good idea to log everything new (food, skin care products etc.) that you give to your dog so if your dog suddenly has an issue you can pinpoint what it is

What this lady doesn't tell you about Apoquel, is the worrying part of this video. As she mentions, Apoquel is an immune system suppressant. It tells the dogs body to stop fighting any infections or any kind of tumors. If your dog has a history or an existing tumor or lump, be very careful of using Apoquel. It was given to me for my dog that had a very slow growing benign lump. After taking Apoquel for a week, the lump grew so fast, became ulcerated and had to be removed. A few months later he got lymphoma and had to be put to sleep. Please be very careful.

I had a dog that literally tore his back up. He made a complete mess of it.
So we of course took him to the vets and tested him for Ring Worm, Mange Allergies and Fleas after about a grand in vet bills we still couldn't find out what was causing it.
One day i heard him yelping so went out to find out what was happening and discovered that the daft thing had decided that he wanted to sit on top of an ants nest and wouldn't budge.
It was almost like him saying it's my garden and i'll sit where I want to.

Well, I am getting increasingly worried about the rarely mentioned but frequently occuring allergy against chemical components in vaccines and flee/tick tablets which my dog most probably now is suffering badly over. 🤔😣😭

Your title says "How to stop itching", I assumed you would give an advice other than take your dog to the vet! Most people are trying to by pass the expense! Disheartening to say the least. Other than that a great video.

Just throwing this out there. I tried >>EVERYTHING on my dogs purple, itchy groin. 4-5 different shampoos, all types of creams, anti-fungals, anti-biotics, lotions, peroxide, baking soda, vinegar, doing regular deworming, etc. It got greasy, wet, she kept picking at it... I had to cone her and nothing worked. One day I began reading about something called "itchyosis". Which is a genetic problem. Not an allergy issue. This issue came out of nowhere. I changed nothing in her diet. One of the solutions was to use salicyclic acid. Which is in wart remover. I had some wart remover liquid. Put it on my skin first. I noticed immediately it DRIES the skin out. But doesn't hurt at all. And her skin was moist & greasy. So I began appying wart remover all over her tummy area. When I rub her skin now.. it's not greasy at all. It's dry & smooth. The top / bumpy layers are starting to flake off. I don't know what this stuff is doing but it seems to be working better than anything I've tried. You can tell it's strong & exfoliates the skin quickly. It also dries out any oozing or moistness... quickly... which provides relief. Whether or not this will cure her I don't know but I'm glad I tried it.

I have been trying and trying to help my dog. It just sends me into tears seeing him always being itchy and going crazy over being red and itchy on his back. I can't afford to take him to the vet. And that just stresses me out and brings out the tears even more that I can't get him help from a vet. I have been trying every thing. Then he is getting up in age too..

Really appreciate your video, my 10 year Reteiever mix has been dealing with that issue, I even have to use the cone because on the irritated areas he scratches and licks and licks until bleeding wich has made everything worse and he even learned to remove the cone so even though I didn't wanted I had to use the muzzle because he can even rip meat from the bites, I've seen it is a combination of he picking some insect from grass and causing the bites but he also gets super hot because where I live it's sunny every day, so we have opted for shave the hair to treat the areas best and keep him clean better and faster. I'm going to test the food thing as well, thanks so much 👍

Great information.
My dog has had a skin condition for years that two Vets could not figure out. I was doing the Peroxide/Water/Borax solution baths and that does help. Just taking a really long time. My rescue dog Monty was ruled out for having mange, but this solution does help even tough it's a home remedy for mange.
Much of his skin cleared up, but there are still patches that are blackish color and very scaly looking. He's a great dog and I would like to address this problem for him. Thanks.

Nine weeks and two vets later, we are still trying to figure out what is wrong with our four month old Border Collie. We were told by one vet that it is allergies. We were told by another vet that it is worms. She gets rashes on her belly, she itches a lot, she coughs (mostly at night in the beginning but now more frequently during the daytime as well with a longer duration of the episode. She has also soft pudding like stools since we got her. Recently she started sneezing and reverse sneezing as well. She has been given quite a lot of medication - antibiotic, two different worm medicatiosn, allergy medicine, cough tablets, probiotics, and a couple other things. We have given her multiple baths with two different shampoos. We have tried changing her diet - a change in meat (chicken, beef, lamb), a change in type (kibble to canned to whole food) and there has not been any changes in anything. If it's allergies, it seems like there isn't anything that she is not allergic to.

Our vet diagnosed my dog Carrot with atopy. Its effect is he had eosonophilic granuloma and folliculitis which normally is seen in cats. We found out that he had these bec he started jaw chatterings so we went to the vet to have his jaw checked out. They did a lot of tests and it turned out he had lesions in his mouth which is a result of his allergy. The vet prescibed prednisone and gabapentin for the allergy and pain.

Hi, not sure if you respond to comments or if you will even see this one, but I have a question. Our dog, a beagle, did not get relief from the Apoquel or the Cytopoint. The only thing that helps is steroids and I know they're not good to give all the time. She is on flea prevention but I believe she has Flea Allergy Dermatitis, as well as another allergy/allergies. She has scratched the hair off her hind end, back, legs, paws, and ears. (No ear infections, just itchy on the outside ear) She is miserable and we are not sure what to do for her anymore. We've tried shampoos, both medicated/prescribed and over the counter. We've tried balms/salves, leave-in moisturizers, sprays, etc. We have not done the allergy test, because our vet said it wasn't accurate. We did do diet changes as well and saw no improvement. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks for your time

It's so weird how my beagle, who is 4 years old, developed an itchy rash under his leg/thigh area ONLY after I used a new smell good spray by Top Paw from pet smart. I only sprayed 2 squirts on his back area. Ever since then he has had issues. I tried the burts bees wash hoping it would ease his itch and and calm the redness but I had to go ahead and take him to the vet and had to get him on a steriod for 7 days. I removed all treats and only gave him his food and things cleared up. Weeks later I tried Tropiclean deodorizing spray, which is the same brand and scent I used for months in the past in the shampoo brand. Now, 48 hours later it looks like the rash is coming back in the same 2 spots underneath his leg/thigh area. Im wondering if that Top Paw spray I used has now triggered his immune system to go off . He never had any problems with rashes until I used that Top Paw, made in china by the way, spray on him. I usually only but USA made but forgot to look at where To[ Paw was made . arg.

Do you feel Apoquel will become more affordable anytime soon. I keep thinking it’s time for a generic version to become available. Unfortunately cooler weather hasn’t done anything to offer itch relief for my dog.

My dog started to pull hair out of her tail. I went on the internet to find out that she has allergies. Her skin on the tail is red but I don’t know what is causing it. I believe it’s the shampoo I got because that’s when I noticed it happening

Thank you for the video. I am ordering the very expensive epicor - the only version I can find in my country is Zesty Paws Aller-Immune-Bites. My 9-year-old suddenly developed allergy symptoms almost 2 years back, and we've been struggling with it ever since. We switched to our third vet, and for over a year I followed all her orders / guidelines, bought all the shampoos, bathed him thrice a week, sprayed stuff on him daily, oil-massaged him, shoved tablets down his throat, neutered him, eliminated all food except hypoallergenic food, cooked fresh meals twice-a-day for him... and such stuff. And he's still itchy. I don't even know if I trust the vet any longer. His fur did grow back to what it used to be before, but he still bites his paws. Now I'm trying this Zesty Paws thing because the reviews were all excellent. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope he heals completely!!
