Here's a great example of the sort of inspired millworker with which we love to join forces. Jonathan was generous enough to send us some great photos and videos of the fabrication and installation of this amazing door. We thought you might enjoy following his adventure.

Jonathan Blackwell designs and makes all manner of beautiful things with wood that he sources sustainably from managed forests in Costa Rica. He's personally involved in every step of the process including selecting the tree, milling, drying, and importing the wood for use in his projects. This 5'x15' pivot door he was asked to build is made of live edge slabs of Parota wood (aka Guanacaste), with the edges of the door slab and the door jambs in teak. It's one of a kind and built to last.

This is an excellent example of a high-performance pivot door that integrates a complete package of all the pivot door hardware we can provide.

When he called about this project, he was interested in the FritsJurgens pivot hinge so he could deliver a clean zero-threshold condition. For this 650lb dual-acting pivot door we recommended the FritsJurgens Class G System M+, athmer Schall-Ex pivot door drop seals at the top and bottom, Formani cylinder trim hardware for the roller entry lock, and a stainless steel pull by Krownlab. With no built stops in the jambs, all the weather seals, including vertical flipper seals, are integrated in the door.

We're proud to have been part of this project. Let us know if we can help you with yours. Give us a call : +1-888-636-1627

Wow! I insulate custom and super custom houses every day. Been doing it for longer than I would like to admit. That is one of the coolest “art piece” doors I have seen.
