I'm new to watercolor, since 2019, still learning. To me, the loose paintings allow a viewer to actually see more possibilities within the painting, than viewing a tight painting. That is just my viewpoint, from a 70 something old life of art appreciation. ❤😊

Thanks Karen for sharing your talent in two different ways to produce a painting, I enjoy your videos and how you explain clearly to create an impression. Stay safe and healthy

Thanks for this. It’s very helpful. Love the lose versus the tight. Your such a good teacher.

Loved the video. I’m new and trying to learn watercolor. I found your tight picture better and more detailed especially that it was only watercolor and not mixed media. I don’t think I’m ready for that yet. Thank you for the fun video and instruction. 🎉🎉🎉

Love these foxglove, thanks for painting both versions l got a lot out of it. Both look fab but I'm really into the loose style although it's harder l think.

It is so enjoyable to watch you work. I have yet to see all of your videos... Do you know if you have shown how to do mist/fog yet? Like in a small forest of fir trees, in between them, down low, with just an overcast sky type of picture? Thank you so much for all of your hard work. 💜

Thank you Karen, brilliant as usual. I'm more of a tight painter but to be honest now I like the looser style more, it looks so much more artistic and whimsical. Someone said: "To me realistic painting is so boring, why not look at a photograph instead?" and it really got be question the realistic style.
So now my questions is : how did you become more loose in your painting style? Any advice? Thanks again!

They are both beautiful, though I somewhat prefer the flowers from the tight version and the leaves from the loose one. I’ve always been really fixated on detail. ☺️

Don’t you find you use both approaches in a painting. Tight for the focal point and looser as you move out into the painting?

I accidentally discovered tight painting recently… was my best painting ever . Had people saying they would order from me ! Haha but idk how I did it 😂 I still need more skill cause I’m not making them quick enough. But I’d love to do that someday.
Yeah, anyway random. But that’s what happened ha. I really like this video ~
