Avatar 2 Trailer in 3D Without Glasses (Cross-eye technique)

Hey there,

I made this Trailer of "Avatar 2: The Way of Water" that can be seen in 3D without any glasses by using the Cross-eye technique.

It works by simultaneously looking at the left Image with the right eye and looking at the right image with the left eye. As a result both images will overlap to a third image in the middle which is going to be in perfect 3D because the brain naturally sees two perspectives of one thing (can be quit hard first but once figured out, it will work very easily).

Please notice that you have to cross your eyes inward for this and not outward! You have to focus on a point between the screen and your eyes and not "behind the screen". So it's basically like focusing on an object that is right in front of your eyes (it's not gonna hurt your eyes and you can do this as long as you want since you do this naturally every day! You can try it with a pen or finger) and it doesn't work when looking "behind the screen" because then the 3D would be inverted (so things in the back would pop out and things in the front would seem far away)!

The Trailer is mastered in best possible image and audio quality by using minimal possible compression that mainly comes from YouTube itself.

Remember that you have to cross your eyes inward and not outward (otherwise the 3D will be inverted)!
You do this naturally every day since it's just focusing on a point in front of your eyes (so it will not gonna hurt your eyes and you can do this as long as you want).

That was so cool, but whenever a blank frame came up I kept losing focus😅 It's a struggle to keep eyes crossed when there's no object to focus on

Someone else mentioned an alternative technique once... it works better for me... you close your left eye and only look with your right. Then you move your right hand (I hold it flat and straight up-and-down) partially in the way of your right eye until your right eye can no longer see the right image and is only looking at the left image. As if it's looking cross-eyed. Then you close that eye and open your left eye (without moving your right hand). Then repeat the same thing in reverse. Move your left hand over your left eye until your left eye can only see the right image. Then, if you want try winking each eye individually to make sure that your hands are still in the correct places. Then open them. It doesn't work perfectly, but it does add depth. And it's a way to force your eyes to do the cross-eyed technique, if you (like me) can't pull it off normally. Warning: My eyes normally feel a little funny afterward. But not too weird. I don't think I'm hurting them, but do this at your own risk!

I have figured the best technique for this. Once you can be cross eyed with your finger. For the right eye block the right video and only let the left one in. And for the left eye, block the left video and only let the right video visable. That way it works when done properly. Goodluck! Also don't do it too much as it can actually damage your eye. It can give you eye strain.

I was confused how to do cross eye 3D and didn’t like it because it sounded dumb. So then I thought if my Vr would work (I haven’t used it in a while) and it worked and actually was cool
