I have to try and remind myself of this EVERYDAY...The hardest battles a lot of us face are within our own minds. So many times while in those dark places, I have to talk myself off the ledge; from making a permanent decision to a temporary problem. Every morning I wake up and stare into the abyss, and the abyss stares back as if welcoming me home. Nearing half a century I have thrown in the towel and have begun to simply exist day to day, as soon as that idea of "Hey I could do xyz" its immediately followed by "Remember the last time you tried that, remember what your father said". Once again when the sun rises I will answer the bell, and prepare to do battle with the man in the mirror all the while reminding myself that "I Matter"

Recently, I stood and argued for something righteous. And i was put down and silenced, and the other person who I and a lot of other people knew was terrible, was picked and valued. I am stubborn, so I even tried using logic to appeal to the higher ups to put the other person down, using their rules and regulations. They still didn't agree with me, and told me "we're done arguing with you". I don't know, this really hit me hard in my gut. I am stubborn, but for me that comes with a big spirit and I don't give up easily. Here, I was basically told to give up.
It instantly made me doubt myself, and feel like my spirit and perseverance is useless and not worth it, and I should just give up on myself and change myself for the better.
This video really helped me though, I needed that affirmation, that I am valued, that even though I am bothered and am questioning what makes me myself and silenced within, I don't have to do that just because authority told me to.
