Not all Persian cats are flat faced. I have a classic Persian resembling the ones originating in Iran, and he doesn’t have eye diseases; only when he’s anxious. My cat is one of the most obedient kitties I have seen and gentle. How you train them matters also.

Got 13 cats. 4 persian, 1 siamese, all the rest are "puspin" ( pusang pinoy/Philippines cat). I love them all . Budget for cat food & cat liter sand is quite costly, yet the "joy within" they brought me is priceless.

I've owned cats all my life and now one of our tenant owns a Persian who comes upstairs to us at will. Everything goes well with the cat, but I find it extremely strange -- many things you expect from cats are turned on their ear. This cat is consistently groomed in all kinds of wats you wouldn't think a cat would tolerate, trained to come when called and trained not to venture far from the house. His eye runoff and greater-than average ear dirt/infection were the most unexpected thing I notice, but I figured out what this says --it's the flat face. This cat is endlessly sweet and his bond with his owner is a sight to behold. The relationship between cat and owner is one of care and training and child-like dependence and adoration on the cat's part. Honestly, I'd stand by Persians being great pets, but if they were more easily available I think they'd struggle to find owners, purely because most people who want this level and kind of care relationship don't expect it in a cat and opt for a dog. Our tenant got her cat at much more reasonable cost than mentioned here in a recue situation in Vietnam. I consistently feel a bit sorry for him, with his short legs that don't jump easily and his awkward fur and face needs keeping him indoors and careful of the world more than my own random-bred kitty, but he accepts his lot in life with admirable grace and earnest work ethic. I wouldn't do a Persian myself, but his owner is forever in love and I can't say I don't get it.

My first cat was a Silver Tipped Persian. He was an absolute gem. He came to us from a cat breeder in California. He was two months old, perfectly litter box trained. He was in perfect condition, seemed to know everything about being a cat, perfectly well adjusted. He was very active. Loved to play. Amazing jumping abilities.
Yes, we had problems with keeping his long thick fur groomed. Occassionally he would get soiled when he went to the bathroom, the poop sometimes stuck to his fur around his tush. Then, we had to clean him. He had to be a pretty good traveler. Long distance car rides. But, we told him
"wither thou goest . . ."
And he went along with us willingly. Sometimes, he would hide in our hotel room, not wanting to get back in the carrier
& our car.

One reason why is if you adopt an overweight orange one, your money would be all spent down to lasagna.

I have a Persian cat and I actually faced none of these issues I take it for a bath once a month and the 1st point was that they can be difficult to potty trained I don't know ABT that because I bought it when it was already trained and I just have a litter box in the toilet and it does it Thier.. it is picky for food tho but not that much so I only agree with this vid. 30%

I have 2 persians and die hard persian lover and if you commit to taking care of their coat, eyes, and ears and get them groomed and bathed regularly. Theyre the best cats. Also a lot of these can negated like the potty training issues, having the kittens nares measured before and after sell, PKD testing for several generations back, etc from a reputable breeder you will ensure you have a great healthy and friendly cat. Both my cats came from seperate breeders and both have grand champion lines and are extremely social, friendly, and love kids dogs and other cats and even will sit with my tortoise and birds like its just another thing in the house. Very gentle and kind

My persian has cost me a lot but it's been worth it. He's had many UTI's! They are the most loving cats ever though! Definitely worth it!
