Starting my first ever garden this month, and I'm so excited for all your tips! I've been composting for a while now, and I need an excuse to use all this fertile soil that I'm producing! Plus, you gotta love a new project! One day, I hope to transform my yard into a wildlife oasis, but those big dreams need to start somewhere!

Hurricane Idalia flood water killed most of my plants! Took me a while to get motivated to plant again but finally got some winter green started ….. thanks for the motivation

Always a wealth of knowledge thanks for keeping us gardeners on track. Heading south soon just put my northern garden to bed. Look forward to adding more natives this winter.

Evelyn from Brandon, and back to gardening after a forced hiatus! Bought some tomato and pepper starts over a month ago and they are exploding!! Can’t wait to start this weekend my cool weather veggies. With El Niño predicting to bring us more rain but also more storms this winter, hope it’s a blessing for the garden 😅

I'm in St Pete and my cassia is blooming like crazy now and really pretty. They're great for bringing in the sulphur butterflies.

My first year gardening and i think i transplanred way too soon. Most of my early crops have been deatroyed by bugs. But i learned so it's not a waste!

I had a Carolina Wren couple move into the top tier of one of my Greenstalks early in the summer. Luckily for us, it's viewable from our patio, so we got to see the tons of bug runs they did to their nest! I heard they can have more than one brood a season, so I left the nest alone after the babies left (we got to see that too!), and they came back for a second batch of babies later in the summer! ❤ That tier is now the wren tier, with just some parsley growing out of 4 holes, the rest is bird entrances. Read they often claim a territory and will come back year after year, so keeping their nest and hoping we'll see them again. Maybe not a coincidence we had so little problems with bugs this summer!?

I would just add: If you see insect damage on your veg at this time of year, try to avoid reaching for the pesticides. Palm Warblers, Carolina Wrens and Bluebirds are here and will clean your plants in the mornings and evenings.
