*If anyone is confused, here's this...*
"Nanyue" (南越) was not a Vietnamese country, but rather a "Cantonese" country that took place on what is now Vietnamese soil. *You're welcome!*
*PS:* I could've sworn you already posted this video before!

While adding Jiaozhi is awesome, not covering the venerated local provincial governor Shi Xie's warlord state, his family, and it's gradual demise by Sun clan's Eastern Wu does make this time skip regrettably lamentable, as well for the fact that he and his preceding provincial inspector is a sponsored nominal court ally to Cao Cao as well as fighting against the Jingzhou province warlord Liu Biao's proxies.

Liu Yan of the Eastern Han court once, having suggested to implement the emergency offices and duties of imperial provincial governors to combat disorder in the ravaged core and frontier provinces, had an initial plan to isolate himself and his cohort of supporters there in Jiaozhi, but after heeding a pretentious prediction of imperial auspices, opted instead to take office in Yizhou province, which is now modern day the Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, and parts of Shaanxi provinces.

Prior to sinicization by Han Chinese, the area was inhabited by Austro-Tai (Kra-Dai and Pre-Austronesian), Hmong-Mien and Vietic peoples. Kra-Dai and Austronesian peoples still practice old traditions, e.g. tattooing, teeth blackening, stilt house (Ganlan) and sailing in the river or sea like ancient Yue peoples. Modern Yue or Yüt people, e.g. Cantonese, Taishanese, are admixture of Han Chinese and Baiyue (non-Sinitic) while the Zhuang, a Tai-speaking in Guangxi, is the largest minority in China today. Northern Vietnamese people (Kinh), Austroasiatic-speaking, also share genetic similarities with Tai. Muong people, the closest relative of Kinh, are influenced by Tai. The ethnonym “muong” means ‘city’ in Tai (hence Thai เมือง) while “kinh” (京) means ‘city’ in Chinese.

I always suspected that court langauge of the Nam Gwat state was one of the precursors to the proto-Cantonese from the Middle Ages, though by then they might have largely either died out or assimilated by the Three Kingdoms Wu, Southern Dynasty accents and of course the Central Plain Chʻieh-yün rime system

When the Kingdom of South Vietnam was established, its territory did not include the northern part of Vietnam. The northern part of Vietnam was later annexed by the Kingdom of South Vietnam. France once ruled Vietnam, but Vietnamese people cannot say that France was once a part of Vietnam.
