When should you stand firm in your morals and beliefs, even in the face of opposition? Many aspects of Christianity counter prevailing culture, often leading to persecution or discomfort. But how far should we go to uphold truth and morality? In this discussion, Fr. Mike Schmitz and Jeff Cavins delve into this question, drawing insights from accounts found in 1 and 2 Maccabees. They explore strategies for navigating persecution and stress the importance of defending what is good and true.

Duluth Newman exists so that God may be loved and glorified and His people may be saved and sanctified. We do this by offering students the opportunity to get involved in Bible studies, have access to the Sacraments daily, and enter a community of deep fellowship. Over the last 20 years, bulldogCatholic has grown beyond the borders of Duluth through Fr. Mike's collaboration with Ascension on projects like The Bible in a Year Podcast and his Ascension Presents videos. Our goal is to do our best to make sure each person who is involved with bulldogCatholic feels Seen, Known, and Loved.

Thanks to you two, I came back to the Catholic Church 2 years ago, after being gone 50 years in non-denominational churches. Praise God and thank you both. It's the best thing that ever happened to me 🙏🙏

There’s something so special about listening to the two of you together again. It’s very similar to when I would watch Mother Angelica. It’s very comforting 💗

At a Lenten Retreat at my Church, the Pastor, Fr Jamie(who this weekend celebrates 20 years in his Priesthood) booked a Priest Fr Larry Richards who wrote the book I Surrender, along with other books and does lectures all over the country. In this Lenten Retreat which lasted for 5 days, Fr Larry helped me to understand many things, helped me to deepen my faith and to be a better person, Christian and Catholic. One thing he said really hit me-hard-he said before his feet touch the ground when he wakes up in the morning, he lies prostrate and says “I surrender myself to Lord, Jesus Christ” and in reading his book I Surrender, also says, “Who do you want me to die for today?” I do this every morning, I forgotten a couple of times, I must be honest- but I do this every morning. He also says, which many Priests and Clergy, Deacons say “ How can you have a friendship/relationship with someone if you don’t spend time with them and talk to them-even 15-30 minutes a day? These 3 things have stuck with me these last 3 years since I was confirmed into the Catholic faith. I appreciate this conversation and your further elaboration on these 3 key points of my faith and much other great information. Thankyou, Fr Mike you’re the very first Priest on line I listened to and still do-my go to for questions all things Catholic and Jeff, your talks and teachings have been invaluable. Fr Mike-through you and by grace of God, I was led to my Confirmation Saint-St Therese of Lisieux. Thankyou 🥰👍🙏💕God bless you both, may He keep and guide you on all His ways✝️

As a biological and an adoptive mom, I can say, Yes, Father, there IS a peace there, when we fully commend our children back to their Father, especially when they are in difficult situations. You are absolutely right!

I sincerely appreciate Fr. Mike…his teachings have really helped me and many, many others. He’s a a huge blessing to our faith. But I sometimes get the impression that he is unhappy with his side gigs. He seems stretched. In more than one video he says what he really wants to do is be with his students. That is where his passion is. I hope he finds time to take a break, rest, rejuvenate and not over do it.
