Governments are printing money to save economies, and that could result in a very high level inflation as purchasing power of paper money will go down. Some countries might even face food shortages, as borders are closed and level of trade and production fell significantly.

China caused this virus and could have prevented this entire catastrophe had it not been authoritarian. South Korea and Taiwan (strong democracies) are the two countries that have responded the best to Covid. They did this because they are high-capacity federal governments. In other words, they are strong democracies but with relatively strong centralized-power, especially in times like these. The US and Italy are in this mess because of the high degree of beuracracy and for the short-sighted political incentive of maintaining a strong economy.

You got something wrong: China didn't send help to Italy, it was Russia that did it. Russia also sent medical supplies to China. But it is true that China controled the situation far better then Europe if you exclude Russia. Who surprisingly isn't as capitalist as i though since they have free health care! Russia was preparing for a nuclear attack from the US, thats why it has ridiculously huge amounts of medical supplies and food supplies and now Russia is using those to help people in need in the hope of making news allies.

This was a good informative video on China’s effective handling of the situation however it must be said that German hospitals took in many effected Italians so I wouldn’t go as far as portraying the European Union as every country for itself even if the virus could have been handled better.

Also, globalization isn’t going anywhere. The fact is, this isn’t the first time humanity has gone through a pandemic. 1918, Spanish Flu. More people died than in all of WW1 !!! And what happened after? Globalization. I like your videos. But some respect has been lost.

Thanks for your great Videos. Re your comment on this is a fundamental error, since we are within a few years of extremely abundant and very cheap energy. You may want to do a bit more research on the amount of Solar and Wind energy available (It is unlimited, low cost, and FAR in excess of any conceivable requirements). Another OOPS - you also missed the energy potential of new Nuclear Power industry (new design is 100% safe and use the waste products as fuel, therefore "cleaner than clean". One starting point is the TerraPower website, and Bill Gates's excellent old Ted Talk "Innovating to Zero" (that was before Wind, Solar and Storage costs decreased about 80+%). The only remaining unsolved issue is the storage costs for low cost Wind and Solar energy generated. In EV's the technology is a done deal (Lithium-Ion, with various combinations). For Utility Level Storage, the lowest cost technology (s) are still very much a Work in Progress, both for batteries and other technologies, e.g, Gravity based. Lastly, why do you think Saudi and Russia decided to dump their Oil at any price? As an ex Saudi Oil minister remarked...."The Stone Age did not end because of a shortage of stones". For them, it is literally a decision of "sell-it now, get cash to invest, or risk leaving it in the ground". Accountants describe these as "Stranded Assets" - Worth zero.

Societies adapt, in the end and those who don't are replaced. Reality has its relentless rules that beats all foreseers and seers unless they are vague enough as to predict platitudes. If you are old enough, fears of plagues are a long living social occurrence manifested in fiction (there are books, movies, decades and centuries old) shared with other catastrophes. Globalization simply translated them into a global sphere (in the old times, even if implied, the focus was mostly local). Technologically speaking, we are better prepared than never before to face this one (even if not everyone at the same level), but societies got unaccustomed to the death toll: when millions of dead in the past were the normal occurrence you expected from the plagues, now thousands cause same of worse effects as the domino effect due to as stronger globalization is unstoppable.
