I'm glad you mentioned a fire extinguisher, as my first attempt, I set fire to the board, with having the goggles on didn't see the flames, but the smell got my attention quite fast.

Lightburn is hands down THE best laser software out there. I've tried em all. (their nomenclature is a little odd but still the best).

I'm looking for a laser engraver to do simple engraving on wood or acrylic pen blanks or the occasional small wood project. I have a Meterk DK-BL model that is the size of a Jack in the Box but it doesn't have the power to really burn nicely into some woods and I have ruined some projects that I have turned on the lathe due to the object moving as the diode head moves, or the type font not being in real-time what was on the screen. I might not know what I am doing as well. I am not going into business but rather a simple hobbyist that likes to give nicely engraved gifts to friends. I would like to stay under $400 if possible. Thanks in advance.

Can you engrave on metals with this? If not, what is the best affordable one to use for wood, metal, and acrylic? Maybe one that could even cut thin metal signs?

Hi, thanks for the interesting content about diode lasers! Please make a comparison of the diode modules of different engravers. You can compare the size of the laser dot by projecting the laser onto a wall.

Hey there. Great video. Considering getting into laser engraving (mostly wood for now) and considering getting this laser. My main question is I the only available space I have for this is the second bedroom of my condo. There is some space next to the window. Would an open window be enough ventilation or do I need to get some sort of fan or ventilation system? Is there one you would recommend? Thank you.
