Similar Triangles & Slope | 8.EE.B.6 💗💙
Показать описание
In this math video we will discuss similar triangles & slope. We will be presented with the graph of a line and two triangles arranged with their longest side on the line. We will have four statements to choose the one statement that must be true. We will consider each of the statements independently. We will determine if given line segements are congruent. We will consider angles and if they are congruent. We will also consider slope as a ratio of rise over run. We will compare the slopes of two different segments and determine if they are equivalent ratios. An exemplar solution is modeled and explained.

00:00 Introduction
00:09 The Question
00:40 Understanding the Problem
01:20 Are the segments congruent?
02:26 Are the angles corresponding & congruent?
03:28 Find the Slope as a Ratio
04:32 The Solution
Expressions and Equations
Understand the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations.
8.EE.B.6 Use similar triangles to explain why the slope m is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane; derive the equation y = mx for a line through the origin and the equation y = mx + b for a line intercepting the vertical axis at b.
8.EE.B.6 Use similar triangles to compare the slope of two line segments on the same line.
