The new BMW M2 CS is here as the final hooray in the M2 range. Time to have a proper drive in the latest member of the M2 range to give you some insight into the question if it is worth its hefty price tag.

Our European reporter had the chance to drive it 4500 km across Europe last month and as an owner of a M2 Competition he is pretty clear in his final verdict.

The brand new M2 CS might be the best M2 ever made, but it is also the most expensive, a lot more than the M2 Competition positioned below it in the lineup. Our verdict will give you a clear insight into what the best plan of action is when you are planning to get your own CS.

Enjoy the video and let us know your thoughts on the new BMW M2 CS in the comments box below.

Ironically, the long list of upgrades at the end just made me want to save the hassle and buy a CS. IF you don't *care* about those upgrades, then get the comp.

Yes, if you can afford it. Although, I have been upgrading my M2C with CF that the CS has, It's a tall task to do the CF roof. We can't get to the 450 hp without warranty flagging tunes. The adaptive suspension ride is supposedly better on the CS for daily driving than the OG and Comp. It is worth it if you have the means.

Very detailed in-depth review that YouTube really needs more of Marc, thank you. I really appreciate how you mentioned about the way they installed the carbon roof in-house for this M2 CS, is different to how the carbon roofs for 'regular' M2 Competitions are installed after delivery. It makes me wonder if there is a noticeable difference in handling (centre-of-gravity) between the two cars (where the M2 Competition has all the M performance parts fitted, apart from the large wing)? I know I shouldn't be saying this on a BMWBLOG video, but to be honest, the price of the M2 CS makes it dangerously close to the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, as much as I think the M2 line-up range is the best of what BMW makes currently in 2020. Only few things though are, 1.) M2 CS has two more seats at the rear and 2.) You don't need to have bought 27 BMWs in the past to get approved of their limited production models, unlike Porsche's GT product range. Apologies for the long comment!

I also upgraded from a manual comp to a CS. Much different. The suspension changes are huge and all the upgrades put you around the same price from comp to CS. Both cars put smiles on your face, it’s just the CS feels a little more special and if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed.

The difference between the CS or changing the Competition to nearly the same, the CS in 5 years time will still be worth double.
Great review and I want one now even more !! 👍🏻

I go back and forth on whether it's worth the price or not. It does offer some very tasty goodies, mostly the power bump and the suspension (i daily my M2C and its not unbearable, but its stiff.) I don't like most of the CF exterior details, but a true CF roof is pretty cool and the seats are cool. Strictly speaking, none of that is worth the extra cash BUT i think the F87 has a pretty good chance of going down in history as something pretty special and I'd bet these cars will be worth big money in CS form 20 years from now. So the CS may be worth the money if you keep it for a really long time before selling it.

Frankly, a M2 CP no matter how you change the parts will never be a M2CS . I have a M4CS currently and before that I have a M4 CP . The car difference is night and day , check with BMW M and they will tell you structurally the CS version will always be more rigid . The M2CS is limited to 2200 units however due to Covid 19 the production was cut and so the production numbers has to be less than 2200 . The M2CS. Is built for enthusiastic drivers who don’t really care too much on the price but the overall package . This car like someone said in 5 yrs it will be doubled and the competition will lose much of it’s value . I was so happy that I was allocated one in my country and Yes and it will be the only one locally . There are at least 20 people who is willing to take the car over from me despite the pricing is so high . To be frank I don’t really care about how much it cost me because whenever I drive the M2CS the fun I get will make me forget how much I paid for the car . Yes, I will be keeping the M4CS beside the M2CS beside each other . I know I will be trilled with my M2CS in 2 weeks time when I collect it

I own an M2 Comp and upgrading to M2CS. To me it is worth the $30K price differential.

Very good honest review. I too was so disappointed with the color choices. There'd really only one "color" option and that is Misano Blue. Every other choice is some shade of grey aka. black, white or silver. C'mon BMW, this is 2020..give me more color options not a recycled color from entry level SUV's and a roadster. I also question just how "limited" the car is if they will be selling 4, 400 of them worldwide? I think they sold less Audi RS3 in 3 years.. I would like see an honest comparison between the M2C and M2CS with the same tires and same driver. BMW did a poor job marketing it as well.. ask anyone on the street and 98% will not know what an M2CS is or will say oh my buddy has one (and it's an M2 or M2C)

Excellent review and recommended modifications (as desired) re the M2.Competition. My only problem has been with the rear view of that muffler hanging so low visible from back. Does the M carbon fiber diffuser conceal it from view? It looks awful to me as it come from factory.
(Hangs too low.)

In my country I can import one from the US, and they cost just under $90k which is about 75k euros.
I think that's a good price for it.

If you buy every m performance CF part that could make the M2C as close to the CS as it can be you would be 5, 000 usd off of CS price in the USA. That only includes CF parts/Wheels&tires there's still to considered the price of installation, m performance exhaust, adaptive suspension (which you can't get) and upgraded leather. Would you go for the CS without the CCB brakes for around 3000-4000 usd more?

How are the tyres at low temperatures and wet roads? Do you have to drive very carefully then? I will get my CS next week but maybe I will buy Pilot Sport 4S because I don’t think I will go to the track often. But if you had enough grip at rain and low temperatures I might keep them

doing all that to your M2 comp merely highlights how much you want a CS but can't afford it

Bloody good review. I think I'll go with the M2 Comp then upgrade piece by piece. By the way how would one go about getting an M performance suspension to install on an M2?
