Nancy Rink lives here in Bakersfield, CA. I met her several years ago at a quilt show at the fairgrounds. I bought one of her quilt kits. We chatted for awhile and I have also been to her studio here to get extra fabric for the quilt. Nice woman. Beautiful quilt.

Becky, I covered our pool table with our ping pong table with blankets in between. I have a huge cutting board on top and have used it for years like that. It’s the perfect height for cutting garments, doing drapes, quilts, etc. One day one of my grandkids discovered the pool table! They had no idea it was there. We cleared it off, played ping pong and pool that week, then it went back to cutting table.

I’m thinking of converting my unused living room, into a bigger sewing room! The only thing that holds me back, is it’s the first room that someone sees, when they walk into my house! How very smart of you to link the iron and the light. You won’t accidentally leave it on at night, which I have done... thank God nothing happened by the time I realized it was left on. I’m excited for your new space.

Hi Becky! It sounds like the floor in your new space is cement? You might consider putting something down that will be kind of cushiony to help with the stress of being on such a hard surface floor all day. It gets quite painful on your body.

I have one of those irons . I have had mine for years and I love it . Doing alterations was a lifesaver

Becky could you show how your iron functions with the water line and electrical cord when pressing/ironing a large piece of fabric? I’d like to see how those two lines move as you go back and forth in both directions, does it get hung up or drag on the fabric?

LOL. The red glasses are to tell value of one fabric against other fabrics. Which is darkest, next not so dark, next lighter and so on. I made a sampler quilt top once with 11 shades of red. Some were deceiving as to which was darker or lighter in the blocks.
