Nice!
I wonder what the material is behind the concrete paste layer. Is it the wooden frame or something else?

I'm working on the foundation of my house which is only about a foot and a half.. I can't decide if starting from the siding and working down is more efficient or working from the bottom up to the siding. I'm a hairdresser not a stone mason so I've never done this before. Tips thank you

Great video Mason. I noticed that you used different bonding agents for the Mortar and the stone. Is this be design or is there no issue using the same bonding agent for the mortar and the stone?

Very helpful videos. First time doing masonry work and building an outdoor fireplace.

Are you adding any color to the mortar? I don’t want everything to look like gray concrete in between the stone. Thanks!

I’m assuming the stone has to be dry or else it won’t stick to the mortar?

I have a suggestion that you can choose to delete as you wish but these mentions below are not for any other motive than to offer possible easier and better installations for you.
1.) Rather than hitting the fake stone with a hammer to get it into position, cultured stone that typically breaks relatively easy compared to a real rock, try just jiggling it under pressure instead. In fact, if you were to metal lathe and scratch coat over wood, using a hammer can break your scratch coat and create an area that allows movement in and out from the wall when that happens. Jiggling your stone into place while adding ample pressure by pushing and jiggling ensures that voids between the product and the scratch coat are diminished.
2.) Always start your cultured stone work from the top and work your way down. There are many reasons for this. Starting at the bottom and working up will produce splatter on the lower product and cultured stone will never clean as nicely as natural stone. Whereas starting your work and working down not only eliminates the damage of your lower installations but you also eliminate the unsightly non-whole pieces of stone at the top (starting at the top will ensure you always have a full stone where it is most noticed and any pieces are buried below eyesight in the ground.
3.) Your use of a bonding adhesive is absolutely smart. But try this, simply splash or measure an amount as per the instructions right into your mix. By doing so fortifies the installation in its entirety. Wiping it on the back of the stone prior to installation is messy, time-consuming, and a potential for accidents. The bonding agent has been proven to be effective in a recent installation I tore down after installing it only days earlier (amazingly strong stuff!).

*p.s. I didn't watch your video because I ended up here by mistake since I WAS looking for a video on the russian aggression thing so only clicked to a couple of spots through your video so if there's something stupid I've said, it's because I feel chatty and you're it.

Can I ask you a question? I need to put an outlet on the veneer stone how can I drill a hole in it without breaking this stone ? Also how do I get through the wire mesh behind the stone without ripping it all apart and making a total mess?
Thanks

Mason, I’m just curious, I come from commercial FRAMING mainly. I just started with a new company doing residential and commercial renovation and remodel. I’m doing stone columns currently. I’ve NEVER done any masonry before. Do you have any tips for “speeding up” I feel I’m just goin super slow? But also feel I’m doing what I see everyone else doing? Currently I’m covering 4 columns that are 16”x16” and 10’ tall. I’m averaging about half a column per 10 hour day…. Would you consider that slow? I’ve had comments that my work looks great, but I worry I’m slow? You definitely do great work and I’ve learned a bit from you in the last couple weeks!

Do you find dry stack to be easier or more difficult than a grouted look?

Grout bag you'll be there forever like that. Then use a wire brush once it sets up and you can push it in with a slicker if you want to

Looks good, to the point, , especially for a young man, think this would work for a shower, ?

Sometimes you put a screen on the wall first. Is this only for larger jobs.
