Cream - Madison Square Garden - 11/2/1968 Complete Concert

Using 4 different audio sources, (many thanks to Sunny Paul and Ryan Hull for the new sources) I have compiled the most complete version of Cream’s November 2, 1968 appearance Madison Square Garden to date. This new version contains each song in its entirety, as most circulating bootlegs contain most songs in varying degrees of completeness. The sound quality has been much improved thanks to the new, cleaner audio sources, and in most cases the sound fluctuations are due to the revolving stage at the center of the arena. Set to as many photos as I could find from this concert, I hope this somewhat recreates what it might have felt like being in the audience that evening. For all the Cream fanatics, enjoy!

Wow. does this ever bring back memories!! I was 19, a huge Clapton fan, and lucky to get tickets. I was up high in the yellow seats, with no Jumbotron in those days, and no binoculars. But I remember the revolving stage and the screaming guitars, and Eric apologizing for having to re-tune so often. What a crowd response. I still have my ticket stub somewhere, it was such an event in my young life. Thank you so much for posting this.

I had never heard these performances before today and I must say: "Holy Sh*t!" Truly inspired playing from all; and Bruce's vocals were titanic, just totally mental. Blows the doors off the '68 Albert Hall gig, imho...!!!

Super post. How great to have the COMPLETE concert after making due with pieces for all these years. I really think these 3 Masters were playing Jazz-Rock before it had a name.

Thank you for this, Mike ! I was a senior in high school when I was watching a NY Rangers game on WOR-9. In between periods or during a commercial break, I hear the play by play announcer saying "...and tickets for The Cream Farewell Concert at MSG are...sold out", before I even had time to get out of my chair for a pen & paper to jot down any info. I was bummed. Didn't miss Blind Faith the next summer...or the reunion in Oct 2005 !

I saw Cream a few weeks before this concert in Detroit in Oct 1968. My tickets cost $6.00 and I was in the 6th row right in front of Eric Clapton who played so loud I could not even ear Jack Bruce playing bass. I could just feel a low rumble of the bass, A night I will never forget

Thank you for this compilation. It's a labor of love and greatly appreciated. A towering performance by one of the greatest bands of all time. All three of them are great, but for me the standout is Jack's singing, which is superb.

Baker's legs were phenomenal. The man played *rudiments*on his bass drums! And keep in mind that he used only basic Ludwig Speed King pedals to accomplish this feat of the feet! (Pun intended. ) Baker's footwork was more complex than most drummers could achieve with their hands!
