In theaters September 16, 2011.

Ryan Gosling stars as a Los Angeles wheelman for hire, stunt driving for movie productions by day and steering getaway vehicles for armed heists by night. Though a loner by nature, Driver can't help falling in love with his beautiful neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan), a vulnerable young mother dragged into a dangerous underworld by the return of her ex-convict husband Standard (Oscar Isaac).

After a heist intended to pay off Standard's protection money spins unpredictably out of control, Driver finds himself driving defense for the girl he loves, tailgated by a syndicate of deadly serious criminals (Albert Brooks and Ron Perlman). But when he realizes that the gangsters are after more than the bag of cash in his trunk—that they're coming straight for Irene and her son—Driver is forced to shift gears and go on offense.

Standard isn't acting jealous in this scene, i believe that it is explained in the next scene. He might believe that this guy is trying to kill his wife and son, like the other men because of his debt. Hence why he's so open to him after he encounters the real pursuers that give the bullet to his son

Man this scene really shows Driver's kind of innocence EXAMPLE 0:10 - 0:20 haha the smile and mmhmm nod. Ryan Gosling was amazing! His character was awesome :D

the actor that plays the father is very good, i expect we will see more of him.

I thought this scene showed intensity, but the more i think about it, it's just a contrast. The contrast is with the whole world of drive being so strange and artsy, and the father being relatively normal. it gave me a false feeling of a fued

I love the originality. Any other movie he would have been a bad guy.

I really thought a rivalry would break out with these guys after this scene.

You can tell Driver's especially uncomfortable, because he's not used to conversing like that. He doesn't want to talk, but Standard kind of forces it out of him.

People are allowed to have opinions. That is the whole purpose of art; to provoke discussion. To call me dumb based on my opinion of a movie is immature and frankly really silly. I wasn't bragging that a third of the theater did the same.. I was just stating a fact that I thought supported my argument.

Even though I do love Drive, calling someone dumb for not liking it is really arrogant.

such an uncomfortable scene. Such a good movie.

@edwood321

Honestly I think it's supposed to portray the feeling of a feud. I mean this guy comes out of jail and finds this random guy hanging out with his wife while he's been away.

@hierlman

not at all, its better not to play into peoples expectations. i think it would've been weird, and would upset driver and irene's relationship thereafter, the appeal of the driver character is that he's calm and silent--thats why irene and the kid like him, and only once the family's life is in danger does he totally change and start murdering people.

@artstar4 i know where your coming from. but you have to understand that this movie was voted best movie at film festival its not the same directing from a big movie company like MGM or warner brothers. its a small film company that made it. just like if you seen blue valentine in which gosling also plays, the editing is a a little off but thats what makes it a great movie. its not the same.

@artstar4 i think the editing was good LOL one of the best bits of the film.

it woulda been better if there was a fight instead of him becoming a third wheel to their family

@NoLifeTehRs I dont think I was being harsh, its the only movie I've left the theatre to go to the bathroom because i found it so boring, and the only movie ive been in where a third of the theatre left before it finished. I gave it the two points for cinematography and the music score.

@eswagmoen well many people will disagree with me, butI thought the story was very poor and the editing made me laugh out loud at times. I didn't feel anything while watching it except boredom and thinking "what the hell is this". I loved the first five minuets but after that they failed to introduce anything new. Other people have said they loved it though, so it's just my opinion.

@artstar4 2/10? You lost all credibility.

@123msanchez Yeah I know trust me I'm a film student I know that lots of great movies come from small companies. But I did see Blue Valentine and I actually loved that movie, I would give it a 10/10. This I would give a 2/10. cause to me Blue Valentine actually had meaning and a good script. I really just thought this movie was dumb. (I found out afterwards the director was stoned on meds after the dentist when he came up with the main idea for this film). But to each their own.

You know nothing about me. Just because I have an opposite opinion than you on one movie doesn't mean I don't know anything about art. haha wth.
