On May 29, the Assembly Committee on Jobs and the Economy met to discuss Assembly Bill 234 which would regulate 5G wireless deployment and authorize setback requirements from macrocell towers. Wisconsin is the last state in the Midwest to adopt laws to fund 5G wireless distribution which would enhance existing networks. Elaine Unger from Wisconsin for Safe Technology spoke in opposition warning against the radiation danger of wireless technology. "[Scientists] are worried about the erratic pulses of the sending and receiving of the data. The pulses are hard on our bodies, on our DNA, on our cells." Eric Swanson, professor of physics at the University of Pittsburgh, explained that the laundry list of health concerns coming from 5G wireless is not causation but statistical fluctuation. "One thing does not cause everything, it doesn't happen like that in medical science...So whenever you hear a laundry list of things that are a result of one cause, you should be concerned."
