*Hot Whip 72*
A play machine for the whole river, play spots and rapids included.
Let’s be honest. A playboat is great for tricks, but kind of sucks to take down river. That's why we created The Hot Whip.
The Hot Whip is the ultimate boat for those who want to play hard on the entire river without sacrificing comfort and style going downstream. As a half slice, it's designed with play in mind, but can still take on river running with confidence.
Engineered with play moves top of mind, the Hot Whip is perfect for surfing waves, stern squirting, splats, and any other playful maneuvers you can think of. But don't worry - this boat can still handle river running, too. It's not just a one-trick pony!
Like the RMX, the Hot Whip has a big bow rocker that allows you to plow over obstacles with ease, while its large hull platform keeps you sitting up on the surface of the water and spinning on a dime.
And with the crisp, tuned edges you've been asking for, expect a super slippery and buttery smooth ride. You'll be able to slide or carve effortlessly on any wave or play feature.
The Hot Whip also boasts a small, high-performance winged stern that makes squirts, stalls, and splats fun and effortless. And at a compact 8 feet long, this boat is easy to throw around.
So if you're looking for a boat that's all about playing the river with style and comfort, look no further than the Liquidlogic. Hot Whip. Just think of it as a play machine for the whole river - whether you're surfing waves, stern squirting, splatting, or just bopping your way downstream the Hot Whip is sure to take your paddling to the next level.

*Firecracker 242*
The Firecracker is a HalfSizeHalfSlice to whip into every micro-eddy, snap onto every wave, and get vertical absolutely everywhere - no matter who you are, you'll be able to throw this around, sky-gaze, and have the comfort and confidence to nail that new move.
Compact and lightweight half-slice design
Half the size means twice the potential for getting airborne!
Spinnable, surfable, stable planing hull
A bow that stays dry downriver, but you can still get down and party with
Enjoy explosive moments of fun and relax without consequence between them.
Don't just unlock the river, blow the doors off!

Firecracker 232 was the winner for me. I paddled the 242 and hot whip about a half dozen times ea. last year and ended up liking the 232 best. But.. I wanted the spicer ride and the Whip was too stable given I paddle a med. Antix as my go to boat. I'm 150lb, 5'9" so just over weight recommended for the 232. If I paddle lazy, or slump my posture I'm in a stern squirt or upside down, but it's amazingly agile and makes near every feature playable in the 232. As you said it's more play than the whip IME. and that's what I wanted. I was splitting the gap between a Nova and Antix for downriver play. Great review and mirrors my experiences 💯

Good stuff as always Wade! I couldn't decide which one I liked better so I own both, LoL. I have the 252 FC though(205lbs). As a class 3-4 guy I'm more inclined to paddle something harder in the HW vs the FC. The stern just cooperates better in the HW. I do like the way the FC slides off/on/spins on rocks though. Both are good times. Don't think anyone would make a bad choice with either one!

Got the 242, It is becoming my go to. I like the stability of the bow, and the playful (but not too playful) tail. It’s a great size for me. I have a smaller river runner and a bigger creeker, The 242 is a great mid size for me.

Great comparison. I couldn’t wait for the review of the 242 and 252, so took a punt on the 242.😂
It’s exactly what I was after to make our local class 2 feel fun.
I’m pretty new to kayaking and 86kg with kit on so I’m right at the top end. It’s such a laugh and feel my paddling will progress quicker than with my Scorch M. Thanks again for all your great reviews.

I demoed both back to back and purchased the Hot Whip. It just felt like a more well rounded boat as in I could paddle it in many more situations. It’s what I was hoping the Antix 2.0 would be. One boat to rule them all.

Wade I’m glad you got to meet my buddy Mike but for me I like the firecracker better

Always appreciate the videos Wade!

Do you think the 242 would be too small/spicy for someone at 195lbs? Right on the top end of the range, but looking for something more comfortable than my full slice for longer days.

Thanks so much for that comparison, i was waiting for it for a while!
I have tried the Firecracker 242 and the Hot Whip. I am 1m91 for 73 kg and for me these 2 boats are the best playboats where i could have both comfort and fun (Antix is fine as well).
I have a slight preference for the Hot Whip, but couldn't really tell why. Maybe the good volume distribution that you explained, I guess the volume around the waist felt better to me, but i liked the deck of the Hot Whip as well.
The Hot Whip seat also feels a little better for my ass. 😊

I like the firecracker much more. But I just like to play around on class 3. Hot Whip definitely felt more like a creek boat to me. I’d rather have it on Class 4. But I would actually prefer the Hot Whip bow on the firecracker. The firecracker pearls on waves a bit more often. But the firecracker stern is so much better. Soft edges on the firecracker is good for summer chattooga, but I did prefer the hot whip edges overall. Just different boats. The new hot whip 60 looks very interesting

242 is a twitchy girl, that loves to go vertical and punch holes, starting to become one with it, but you have to be proactive, if you want easy get the antix 2.0
