I don't understand why people thought that, mojang has already said they aren't adding another dimension until they update the end, in other words they are never adding another dimension

To add some context, the Vaults aren't just fancier chests; they have per-player loot. Essentially when a player takes the loot from a Vault, other players can still loot that same vault and get items from it.

Tbf, I don’t hate this, but they could’ve done more with it. The vault can be used by every other player who has a key, but only once. This solves an issue where people would find chests in structures, but they’d already be looted, so it allows people to get good loot from a structure that other people have been to.

I just wish they’d do more with it somehow lol

This kinda makes sense that the key opens a vault instead of a portal. If I added an item that opens a portal it wouldn't be a key; It would be something completely different.

Some people just have way to high of expectations. Like why did those people think they’d add a new dimension when there have been absolutely no hints or anything said about adding on in years.

Things like this are why I enjoy Terraria much more. Mojang will release an update with half a new item and a new wood type every couple months while Re-Logic will take normally around a year or two and release a full fledged "final update" that typically adds quite a bit of new content and typically have crossovers with other games.

Heres more explanation for everyone: that portal thing was supposed to not be a portal and an among us joke from mojang instead. The blue on the key is oxidized copper and not skulk.

See the thing is people keep going into things, making theories with incredibly high hopes for things, and then they get disappointed when the things don’t happen I think this is a cool addition I kept my expectations at a normal standard and I think this is cool considering we’re already getting new mobs and new structure and potentially more in the future

1.21 releases mid-2024. Of course they weren't gonna tack an entirely new DIMENSION in a random snapshot, and it would be the core focus of the update. This is like being told you're gonna get socks for Christmas, and then being disappointed when the socks aren't included with a car.
