Fingerprints At Home - An Easy How-To Guide

In this video we take a quick look at how to take fingerprints at home. While it seems like a daunting task at first, it's really quiet easy.

We look at the basic information to fill out in the top portion, codes for things such as hair color, eye color, and race, as well as a quick overview on how to do the physical prints.

More art than science, the best way to learn to do the actual prints is to sit down with an ink pad and scrap paper. It's much easier than many people think, however due to individual differences there is some trial and error to see what works best for you.

The below is a complete guide published by the FBI on the criteria for fingerprints. It is overly in depth and can be used as a supplemental resource should people desire additional documentation and guidance on the process.

Oh man, I'm glad I watched this video from you guys. I ordered my first suppressor from you guys a week ago and when I got my print kit in this morning I was rolling them, they looked 10x better than the example in this video but I was freaking out about some of the lines being heavier and some very slight smudges in some small areas. Thank God, now I know I can just send in one of the 5 cards I set aside 😆

I've used a broken pen and even brown wood stain to do fingerprints at home and they all came back approved

Thanks for this video. Quickly realized I was over thinking it. Got mine approved.
For those still stressed, this should be some encouragement: I have a scar on one of my fingers and the print is weird. Wrote "scar " in the corresponding box. I also smudged the 4 fingers at once box when handling the card, so I did that print around the smudges so my one fingertip wasn't all on. Again, they came back approved

I read that for any atf application, you have to fill out two cards and one has to go to the highest branch of your jurisdictional law enforcement. Is this true?
