Somewhere on Earth - Ecuador | Free Documentary

We can dream of adventure on other planets that we may be able to colonize some day in the distant future... but for our children, Travel means our own planet Earth. Exploring different regions step by step, making encounters hand in hand... Discovering our Earth is a multi-faceted adventure... with no frontiers or limits except those of Man.

Somewhere on Earth spotlights places the world over where Nature has given free rein to its imagination and has taken the time to create breathtaking landscapes. These spots are often far removed from the great currents of the modern world and this isolation has long kept them sheltered them from the aggressions of human activity.

The territories of modern-day Ecuador were once home to a variety of Indigenous groups that were gradually incorporated into the Inca Empire during the 15th century. The territory was colonized by Spain during the 16th century, achieving independence in 1820 as part of Gran Colombia, from which it emerged as its own sovereign state in 1830.

The legacy of both empires is reflected in Ecuador's ethnically diverse population, with most of its 17.8 million people being mestizos, followed by large minorities of Europeans, Native American, and African descendants. Spanish is the official language and is spoken by a majority of the population, though 13 Native languages are also recognized, including Quechua and Shuar. Yeah, that’s all for now. Enjoy this amazing country on the equator. And that guy doing the bird sounds is crazy good. Wow.

What an amazingly beautiful documentary! One of my friends here in Australia is from Ecuador and, he goes there 3-4 times a year. He always invites me to join him but I don't know how safe it would be... Next time I will go with him. This seems to be one of the most amazing countries in the world. I'm lost for words...

Such beautiful people working in such a beautiful country working so hard to catalogue and preserve the wildlife. Bless you all for you work and bless those who support it even in the smallest of ways. We are all ONE, bipedals, quadrupeds, flyers, swimmers, plants, algae and fungus...we all need each other.
