I am pretty hyped for Lu Ten info, I have been saying it for years that it has been crazy that we know so little about him.

From the little we know about it, what I can picture for putting the Northern Air Temple stuff in Omashu is as follows: we know Bumi is an eccentric guy, we know the Mechanist in an eccentric inventor. They could have one of Bumi's eccentricities be his sponsoring the Mechanist's work. Bumi is also wise, so he could see the value of the mechanist developing the hot air balloon. My concern about this is how to have the balloon fall into Fire Nation hands without Omashu falling. Omashu has to keep standing otherwise the start of Book Two becomes too different, it's where Team Avatar first clash with Azula, and Bumi gives Aang what to look for in an earthbending master. The mechanist also not secretly working for the Fire Nation means they'd have to develop the Drill on their own. The show never made explicit mention of that, but it's there if you look for it.

LU TEN INFO HELL YEAH!!!

Will we finally know who his mama is??? 👀

But seriously. It’s absolutely crazy how little we know about him and it’s been 19 years since the show premiered. How is it that we’ve gone through all this time and didn’t come to learn anything about him over the years despite all the comics or extra material coming out in between that??

It’s also the same for me when it comes to Kuzon. He was Aang’s friend from the Fire Nation during the 100 Year War era. Other than a tiny appearance in the Dragon Days comic story, we know very little about him either and I forget half the time that he exists as a character, let alone a character that Aang personally knew from his life.

We're finally going to learn about Lu Ten... I'm so excited! Hopefully one of the new NPCs is Jinora, I felt that she got stiffed from the RC Book. Also all the adventures being interconnected sounds super interesting. Definitely preordering day one.

*slow claps* Well done, Magpie. You have exceeded my expectations. This seems like a really cool expansion; love the potential for a generational story. That’s sort of what I’ve wondered about the Avatar Studios projects and if we’ll see similar stuff where stories in different eras are linked in some way.

And Lu Ten! Really hope they deliver there and we get some good characterization for him. And art in the show’s style for the first time rather than a painting!

Regarding the live action, it’s one thing if they just didn’t have the time/room to fit it in, but if it is in fact because they viewed that arc as iffy or offensive, that is quite baffling. That begins to bring up concerns about how well they understand the show if that arc came across as too extreme to them or that the show was in any way endorsing sexism.

Not that I want backlash, but it has at least been nice to see the appreciation of that arc from the fandom and understanding the nuance there.

But yeah, as people have been pointing out, pretty wild if the Nickelodeon kids show can handle a nuanced sexism arc, but the Netflix show for adults thinks it’s too much.

Cautiously optimistic about new Lu Ten lore. A little worried considering the Wong Shi Tong one was pretty underwhelming. Could be cool though!

I wonder will Yangchen and Kuruk get some new lore or expanded lore from the rpg like Roku and Kyoshi got minimum amount of expanded info.

What do we know.. Maybe they tried to incorporate sexist plot, but in live action format it just felt too forced.. or Ian couldn't deliver this side of Sokka convincingly enough, so they rather toned it down a little..? We'll see.. perhaps it will still be there, just not so explicit..

And I am looking forward to finally have some specifics on Lu Ten!

the reference to post war era is how the aang era is defined, so definitely tea shop owning uncle iroh
definitely see a pattern tho, adventure guide, setting, adventure guide, setting and so on
the recon, the reason for the sexisum drop has to do with Kyoshi island having greater contact with the tribe, just a thought

So very disappointed that this wasn't the Spirit World supplement.

To me sokka's sexism arc isn't as important or crucial to his character as people make it out to be, it does give us an insight into the beliefs of the water tribe but we do get that from pakku later in the season anyway and if I'm not mistaken, it was more prevalent in the northern water tribe rather than the southern water tribe which is why Gran-gran left, but sokka being sexist isn't even the second important arc that the character goes through, he has to deal with the insecurities of being a non-bender in a group filled with outstanding benders and warriors, he also goes through this arc of feeling like he has to prove his worth to others around him, wanting to prove himself to his dad and to himself that he is capable and along the way becomes a proficient leader and strategist and as said in the sokka short trailer " Finding his path in life ", and then again they never Said that they were outrightly cutting his sexism out they said that they are toning it down to better fit the live-action format and I'm guessing make it more subtle and implied than it was in the animated series which to me is better and more nuanced.

It’s not being removed it’s being toned down, the reading comprehension is ridiculous. The criticism and outrage is unfounded. It’s still going to be there.

I'm so annoyed by the backlash about them removing the sexism "arc." It's literally in two episodes: the very beginning of episode 1, then episode 4, then it's done and it's never mentioned again.

They can find something else for Suki to humble him for. It's not actually a big deal.

To me, it doesn’t really make sense why he was sexist. He lived in a tribe that supposed to be opposite than the north that’s why gran gran lives there I’m so excited for the show cannot wait for February 22. We are so close
