Build a Meccano Dog Clutch Mechanism [VirtualMEC Build #1]

I wanted to build some simple Meccano mechanisms to gain a better understanding of both the building system itself and basic engineering principles. This model was chosen for it's simplicity and ability to function as a module in a "do-nothing machine". As with any model involving moving parts, it needs adjusting and fine-tuning to get it working just right. I believe this may have been featured in a Meccano Magazine in years past.

Listen up Spinmaster. There is no better way for kids to learn engineering than classic Meccano.

These small mechanism models are good fun to build. If you look at some of the old Meccano manuals from the 50s there are a couple of gears and mechanisms sets that have quite a few like this.

I've also done a build designed by Ricky Meccano - the spider crane one on my channel. Unfortunately Ricky died about 12 months ago.

Are there any other Meccano compatible sets available in your location? For example in India we have #zephyrMechanix and #toykraft who makes some sets and they are ok. But i doubt any company is going to build the brass parts
