I am a speedrunner. When I discovered MDZS I binge watched all the episodes, alongside TGCF in one school night. I finished watching everything at 4 a.m. then 2 hours later I had to get up.
Worth it tho. I love the Danmei fandom and the source material, I finally have an obssession again

The hardcore one called me out. I “discovered” Danmei when my friend kept bugging me to watch the Untamed with her. She had to hold the DnD campaign I was running hostage by saying she would only make her character if I would watch the first three episode with her. And I did. And she was right, I loved it. It took us about two months to watch all fifty episodes together. I then read all five books, binged the donghua, and consumed as much fan fiction and art I could find. This happened three years ago and MDZS is still my hyperfixtion.

I have been making my way through TGCF. I watched the donghua and just recently finished the books. I own Wangxian bunnies and so many standees of both Hualian and Wangxian. I am now debating between starting SVSS or Remnants of Filth.

Also the Untamed was my first real exposure to a same sex relationship where the main couple being the same gender isn’t treated as a big deal compared to a lot of western media. It’s less of “don’t date him, he is a man too” and more of “don’t date him, he summons zombies” and I enjoy that. And to put simply, it forcibly dragged me out of the closet and beat me with a stick. And now that friend that originally dragged me into this, is my girlfriend.

It's rare for people not to move across the spectrum. I was casual until I switched over from the donghua to the books. Then the binge began. Now I get to do some content creation via edits but I'd gladly swap over my skills for the illustrators out there. The talent in this fandom is insane.

I'm definitley 100% speedrunner. I watched all of the episodes of tgcf in one night and only then realized that i need to go to school in 2h. So what have i done? Started watching mdzs, almost missed the bus and said goodbye to healthy sleep schedule. Was it worth it? Absolutley yes👍

Apparently I'm both a speedrunner and a casual, this is some of the only danmei content that's ever popped up in my feed, and im so out of the loop that i was trying to figure out what the hell TGCF stood for before i remembered that Heaven's Official Blessing wasn't the full title, but i get through like anywhere from 3 to 5 different danmeis a week and will reread them once i run out of new ones. As for having time... sleep is for the weak.
