John O’Groats to Lands End IN RECORD TIME in an Electric Car!

Well this was a long day, but not because of the car or charging. It’s just a very long way! Over 850 miles End to End

The End to End challenge has been on my list of to-do for a while, so whilst the weather looked good and I was in Scotland anyway I decided to give it a go at the last minute.

Setting off from John 0’Groats at 0500 how long will it take to travel the length of the UK to Lands End? The records to beat include;
1. Total Driving Time
2. Charging Time
3. Energy used
4. Average efficiency

Can a 2019 Tesla Model S beat the previous record set by the team at NetCarbonZero who used a Tesla Model 3.
The model 3 is smaller, lighter and can charge faster than this Model S.

But I give it go anyway and in fact ended up only using V2 Superchargers only.

Hopefully if nothing else this goes to show how covering massive distances is perfectly easy in many a modern EV And really doesn’t need much charting time at all. Your bladder will need to stop more!!

It can be beaten again another day with cars that go further and charge faster and when there’s even more choice of chargers, but for now I think this is the new record!

Edinburgh to London NON-STOP in an ELECTRIC CAR? Tesla Model S Long Range v 420 miles
Thanks for watching

Epic. I very much appreciate your total transparency and integrity, Best EV channel on YouTube.

Well done! Just three minutes quicker than Steve White and Stephen Fathers managed in 1992 in a 1928 Austin Seven - and that included a delay after running out of petrol.

This would have been a great achievement with a team helping and done through the night to avoid traffic but it's all the better because it was done in real world conditions, at a normal time of the day with no outside support. Well done and great video, thanks for sharing.

Can't decide what was best, the hybrid trying to leave the car park or the sandwich chomp :D. Nice one Richard :).

You did very well considering the traffic on the M6. I use to live 18 miles north of Inverness and had an Aunt that I used to visit in a village called Blisland 5 miles from Bodmin in Cornwall, use to drive overnight leave at 7pm arrive at 6am 685 miles the only way to miss the traffic on the M6 do it on a Saturday night and the road was pretty quiet! This was in 2000s in several different fossil cars, Alfas and Fiats.

Brilliant! Just did a trip from Finland to the UK and back in our Model 3 SR, but nowhere near that much driving in a day! And on your own too! Awesome.

That efficiency on a model S, at mostly motorway speeds, is fantastic!

Was considering a MY, my mate sent me your video review and I ordered one the next week. Saw your review of the alcantara dash from DAJ Auto, just picked one up from Knutsford, amazing quality. Your content is much appreciated - this trip tops the lot. Thanks Richard 👍

Big high fives all round for doing something that could be done easily in a £ 500 banger

It took me ~ 26 hrs to drive my 2014 MS 60 ~ 1100 miles a few weeks ago. That was with about 4hrs lost to traffic caused by a car fire AND the fact that I was nervous and stayed for LARGE buffers @ every charge stop. It was my 1st long distance trip with the car and my nerves were shot! So now that I'm more comfortable with it all I'm pretty sure I could knock about 5 hrs off of that time. No autopilot of course. This makes me want to upgrade tomorrow!!! Lol. Well done!

Ace video !! I have done Lands End to John o Groats... Total time was a bit less than yours ( because we set off in the evening and for some strange reason we had no roadworks !) in a Model S 75 - 2017 - so we had more charging stops but we worked it so we hit the charging sweet spot at each charger and only charged enough to get to the next main charging point. The thing I remember most was that the charger at Lands End wasnt working and it was a nightmare getting charged to set off with 95% charge !!
Oh yeah, you get a form stamped at the hotel at Lands End and at the pub at John O Groats with time stamps on it to "prove" your time....
