Newer f150s are monsters, but the lightning is just so damn sexy

The biggest problem with the new F150 is that it’s a mile off the ground. The Lightning doesn’t stand a chance unless it isn’t stock but the lowered all around look is so cool. That Coyote with a 10spd is fast tho. When we wanted a new Lightning, that’s what we wanted, not some appliance that doesn’t make any noise and can’t drive more than a few hours at a time.

That ten speed makes a huge difference, my 02 lightning bone stock ran 13.58 but that was a perfect launch/conditions. It would run average 13.8

I ran an 01 lightning up until 6 years ago. It ran 13.2s consistently--hard to believe that one is 500hp. Anyhow, new tech is hard to beat--but that lightning is a beautiful truck..

Great points and questions I hadn't thought of on the new Lightning.

I will say this, living in Houston during the last hard freeze with no power for almost a week, my F150 wasn't the only one on the road but after the first day with no power, didn't see a Tesla (or any EV) until 2 days after the power came back on and temps got back in the 30s.

If you go to 5:34 and put it in .25 x playback speed you can see the tire break loose really well on the lightning! It’s really cool to watch

Great video and insight from the race and about the new Lightning. Had a 2002 Lightning. Seemed like a rocket back then. Trippy how technology changes everything.

I have a 2011 150 King Ranch 5.0 and a 2012 Prius and a 04 PTGT. The Performance of the Prius drops off considerably in the cold 40 degrees and below. The milage/distance drops, add rain and it drops even more. I am just saying that the numbers you are hearing about the new Lightning will be a lot lower when towing and in the cold/rain/snow.

My 01 lighting Had full bolt ons from JDM freehold, NJ. Just messing around on street tires I managed to run 13.2. That was with major traction issues and my rookie butt driving. But that was decent numbers back in 2003. The truck could have probably ran high 11 low 12 with slicks.

Don't try to boost the numbers up for the lightning. With bolt ons (intake, exhaust, 6# pulley) they make around 430 rwhp.
