I really hope not. I really don't think they will get rid of physical games all together

I always buy the physical version of any game if one is available, I’m always sad if it isn’t an option because I love the box art and I like having a physical collection I can look at on a shelf lol. Also, there is just something so exciting and satisfying about going into a store and buying a physical copy.

I'm a mix of physical and digital, but if Zelda would be completely digital I'd cry because I love the box art and having the physical game

Physical will never go away completely. Digital games take up too much space on the console. Having a cart or disc is way better. It runs better period.

For me this would kill gaming. Gaming is made to enrich your life, not remove you from it. Why is there seemingly this trend to remove you from the real world as much as possible in the most depressing of ways?!

Seriously are we all fine with not having preorder bonus? Maybe in 2040 we would look at it as unsophisticated, but as of now I love these physical bonuses, art prints, and steel books. I think most people do for their favorite franchises. So yeah, it's sad.

Physical is always better, but the lack of manuals with artwork and story info makes me sad. Some of my favorite memories are reading a manual as soon as I got home from the store.

I've been getting my games digital and we tend to get a physical copy if more than one person in the house wants to play the game. As someone that doesn't like paying full price for older games, the only problem I have with digital only is that games that are 5 years old are the same price as they were upon release since there is no incentive to lower prices. Of course there are sales but some games either don't go on sale or they rarely go on sale.

I would honestly would pay a premium to get a physical edition of a game if we ever move towards that dystopian future… I already do that with some of my favorite indie games! Cuphead is such a great physical release!!!

The day physical games die the day I stop buying new consoles… I’ll just collect the older stuff and emulate from that point on

Keeping most of the game on a physical medium makes the most sense... you can only fit so many whole digital games on a console before you start deleting them to make space. Physical is far superior to digital only. Digital only is only good for those people who have to have everything instantly. At least with physical you have to option of going outside to puck it up on release.

I like the choice of physical and digital mainly for the ability to get games cheaper. It's hard to get a first party nintendo game for cheap. I've only been able to get physical first party game under 30 dollars! Digital first party games only go on sale for around 40!

I’m right now 80% physical and 20% digital. Especially when it a game I really want.

I hope we never go fully digital on any Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo switch games the reason I say that is because I like the ability if I decide I want to sell my game to somebody or go to GameStop and sell it I can get some money back from the game But if things go all digital then I will never be able to sell my game and then if a company decides they don’t want to keep making that system anymore and they make a new system. They decide that the game doesn’t run on the new system then you’ll lose your game for good.

I exclusively buy physical games, I have a sense of ownership that I don’t with digital. I probably would buy digital if they were significantly cheaper like online streaming services are for shows/movies but paying the same price for something I don’t own feels like robbery.

In hindsight, I’ve actually come to regret buying games digitally when a physical version exists. If I want to share a game with my fiancé, instead of dicking around with account info and re-/de-registering (or whatever it takes to share digitally), I can just be like, “here ya go” 🤷🏻‍♂️

The biggest problem is internet speeds in all the major markets. Even in the usa, theres like 10 million people that don’t have access to high speed internet and so downloading games is much harder

Digital means that you don’t have the option to sell it on to someone else. Thus making gaming more expensive. In Australia, digital copies are 10-$20 more expensive than physical copies at Big W. Which is crazy.
However, if there are good digital sales, digital is the better option. But how often does Nintendo do it?

Here's the thing. If they do digital only releases the games will no longer be in actual stores unless they sell a box with a code inside. The marketing for their games would go downhill. Nintendo wants parents to buy their children the new Mario games, the new Consoles. I believe most parents wouldn't watch the directs or online nintendo ads. It works for games that are rated 16+/18+ but with nintendo I don't see it happening anytime soon

Saying they can get the game more done with digital only just shows that developers don't even care that they are sending out unfinished games. Maybe actually finish the game before sending out the disc and stop making excuses. Dang, I wish my teachers would let me turn in half an assignment and then finish it a week later for full credit.
